Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.
Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."
In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."
"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.
"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."
Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."
Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

It's a free country and both of them can say whatever they like. Jesus was born, lived, and died a Jew. He followed the laws of Judaism and preached the laws of Judaism.
One who supports the tenets for which Jesus is reported to have stood is liking Judaism. If Ann Coulter were logical, she would deduce that the world would be better if everyone followed Judaism.
Have you read Ann's positions on Israel? If so, I doubt you'd be so quick to paint her and Buchanan with the same brush.

Wrong again. The proportion of Jews who voted for Bush was about twice that of African Americans who voted for him. Note to mimaw: with the internet, it is easy to check facts.

Because pointing out the vast majority of practicing Jews today are Rabbinic pre-empts the assertion Jews "don't need perfecting."
I took that as a negative reference to Jews and their holy texts.

I suppose it could be, but I can't see any Karaite Jews claiming they don't need "perfecting" in that if nothing else, they don't currently have a Temple to practice the Biblically mandated worship.

Well, he does say that God chose and still chooses the Jewish people, and they mystery of that love and their redemption in God's hands - Romans 11:

This thread and its convolutions of what makes a person anti-semetic or anti-Israel or pro-Israel but anti-semetic or pro-Jew but anti-Israel reminds me of the "Dennis Moore" episode of Monty Python:
"Blimey - this redistribution of wealth branding people anti-semetic is trickier than I thought!"
PS - If Ron Paul had said what Anne said, the usual pack of townsfolks would be here with their torches and pitchforks.
I have never seen Ann Coulter win any debate because exactly of what you described, total immaturity in her debating style, smirks and snide looks, sarcasm in every word, silly and stupid jokes, and she thinks this is the way you win a debate with a liberal. But of course according to her adoring fan on FR she rivals Cicero with her debating skills.
Paulie had the common sense to write it dowwn, not broadcast it in the studio of a left-wing fink like Deutsch, and leave himself wide open for a charge of anti-semitism, no matter how spurious.
Interesting that Paulie (look I know it's disrepectful to some, but I feel a know the guy, OK?) was addressing the first big problem Christianity had... i.e, did one have to become a Jew before becoming a Christian, complete with circumcision? As the Romans considered Christianity a Jewish sect, which of course is exactly what it had been up until then, this was an excellent question.
Marketing genius that he was, Paulie wanted to sell Christianity to a bigger market, and did away with the surgical requirements. As far as the "Perfected Jews" idea goes, it has very deep Puritan roots in this country. The founders, especially the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Colony (as opposed to the Pilgrims) considered themselves the latest model of the Chosen People, and were certainly a great deal more tolerant of Jews than they were of Catholics or Quakers, even to the extent of having rabbis on the faculty of Harvard and Yale to teach the new ministers proper Hebrew.
However, none of this is to defend Annie, who needs a good long rest in the country and to stop dating Andrew Stein, who does need a great deal of perfecting .. probably not at first as a Christian. Working that jerk up to human would be a better idea.
Ann Coulter has come up with a successful marketing strategy and it works every dang time. The MSM gives her all kinds of free press after she says something outrageous. And the people who don’t have the depth God gave a blade of grass snap up her schtick and her books like candy because of who she angers. Every time — outrageous comment, spinal cord howling and free press, spinal cord reaction to buy her cartoonish books.
The only difference between her and the “artists” who dunk religious artifacts in dung and urine is that she is far more effective at making money out of being a complete tool.
Simply out of respect for my Jewish friends. Many see the name as so holy that they don’t write it out, and traditionally what they use is actually just that, HaShem, meaning, the name.
Personally, I’m not buying anything being posted on this one from that particular poster.
