Pat Robertson Endorses Giuliani for President
NY Times ^ | November 7, 2007 | MICHAEL COOPER and DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK

Rudolph W. Giuliani scored a coup today by winning the support of Pat Robertson, who, as one of the nation’s best-known televangelists, could help Mr. Giuliani reassure Republicans who are wary of his support for abortion rights and gay rights.

Mr. Robertson, the founder and chairman of the Christian Broadcasting Network, said in endorsing Mr. Giuliani in Washington, that he believed “the overriding issue before the American people is the defense of our population from the blood lust of Islamic terrorists” and praised Mr. Giuliani as a “true fiscal conservative.”

While Mr. Robertson did not mention Mr. Giuliani’s support of abortion rights, he said approvingly that Mr. Giuliani “has assured the American people that his choices for judicial appointments will be men and women who share the judicial philosophy of John Roberts and Antonin Scalia,” who have argued against Roe v. Wade.

The endorsement comes just a month after a coalition of other prominent Christian conservatives threatened to back a third-party candidate if Mr. Giuliani were to become the Republican Party’s presidential nominee. The support of Mr. Robertson could not only help Mr. Giuliani present himself as a viable candidate to the Christian right, but could also help him improve his standings in Iowa: Mr. Robertson finished second in the Iowa caucuses during his own run for president in 1988.

And the announcement threatened to overshadow an important conservative endorsement being announced by Senator John McCain of Arizona — the backing of Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas, who recently ended his own bid for president. While Mr. McCain opposes abortion rights, he has sometimes been viewed with suspicion by anti-abortion groups who felt muzzled by the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law that he helped pass, so the endorsement by Mr. Brownback, a staunch social conservative, was seen as an important achievement...

Well, frankly, I am happy Robertson endorsed Guiliani. This endorsement will hurt the Guiliani campaign, and it will finally finish off Pat Robertson.

Most of us haven’t let the demetia get to us so bad, that we have forgotten the flyers Pat sent out during the SC primary, for the 2000 election, slamming McCain as being Pro-abortion....now he is endorsing a self admitted abortion supporter?

Proven hypocrit...Rudy is much more honest than Pat...who would have thought it?

Don’t know why Rudy is smiling. Robertson also supported deposed Liberian President Charles Taylor.

It amazes me the hatred for Rudy...

All these candidate threads amaze me. If you don't vote for Duncan Hunter then you're not a conservative. Mike Huckabee is a closet liberal. Only Ron Paul can save the country.

What amazes me is the number of people who say that they will refuse to vote if (fill in blank) is not on the ballot. I certainly don't like Bill Clinton but, if he were running against Hitler, I wouldn't stay home just because Ronald Reagan wasn't on the ticket. I'm not calling Hillary "Hitler," but any of the Republican candidates would be better than her.

True, he deserves to be bashed hard on his weird prophecies, but he has accomplished quite a lot in his lifetime. For a man to create a conservative media empire in the middle of the liberal wasteland of media is no small feat;

Pat "created" that conservative media empire on the back of donations from everyday mom and pops. He then sold that media empire (CBN) to Rupert Murdoch. He profited from it. Not the people who gave him the money to build it. Nor did it continue in operation for the stated reasons with which donations were solicited (not that that stops him from continuing to solicit donations to keep "700 Club" "on the air"). He is unethical. Period.

Exactly.

I remember this same “at least he is republican” argument, as a reason to support Arlyn Spector. How did that turn out?

Seems like we don’t learn from our mistakes.

And YOU will be where?

I will NOT vote for rudey, and only GOD himself knows where Ill be a year from now, probably still trying to finish the renovation of my 1810 era farmhouse.

Maybe He will lead me to 'pull a lever' and/or go 'huntin' depending on how a few other things shake out in the near future...

tootie rootie can not beat the 'toon so you might as well get your knee pads out and pucker up if he gets the nod, cause you'll definately need em...

"Rudy" is your only shot at Republican president, this go round (spare me the littany of nobodies that you wish could win a nomination).

Even without the rabid opposition of FR, he doesn't stand a chance against the Iron Maiden and her Big Machine.

The game, as they say, appears to be quite fixed.

that's a funny picture, by which I gather you aim to imply things about Pat Robertson that you don't want to bother to type. The message seems to be, "Anyone who recognizes Giuliani's political and leadership skills is a moron, and here's a picture to prove it."

As a reasonable assertion, this is, of course, a complete failure. As a political statement, it's about on par with what we've come to expect from the left and its puppets: cheap shots and non-sequitirs. Are you sure you're on the right forum?

I'm no fan of Robertson's, but I understand he's a very bright guy, and probably too busy to go around posting pictures of you looking stupid on internet forums.

Leadership? No emergency response plan after the 1993 WTC bombing?

Leadership? All those people in the second tower told to stay in the building while the second airplane was approaching?

Leadership? All those policemen and fireman rushing in to rescue, ignoring the primary emrgency response protocol of "isolate and deny entry" with no plan whatsoever?

Sheep need "leaders."

Now, if you want to talk "leadership," there is Donald Rumsfeld who actually went in and dug through the rubble to rescue people from the Pentagon.

Are you sure you're on the right forum?

Ask Mr. Robinson... reply directly on this post...

Rudy is a wife cheating family wrecking liar. A Planned Parenthood abortionist liar. A cross-dressing gay rights activist liar. A constitution trampling gun grabbing liar. A rule of law ignoring sanctuary city making liar. A draft dodging cowardly liar. A goon squad Kerik hiring corrupt liar.
