A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I have been including them here as I receive enough to make another collage.

I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.

We have featured different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!

Every Monday we post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.

I read your post this morning and got all teary-eyed. I lost my hubby a year after you lost yours. My hubby was a Navy veteran and yes, I miss him but God does strengthen us to move on and be happy again. Checked your Profile Page and love your cat, Bloomen!

Good morning..I should be getting dressed and be off to the grocery store..Instead I am cutting and arranging photinia and youpon holly..It’s a lot more fun but it won’t feed the flock!

Are you decorating for Christmas with your berries, etc. Is photenia the bush where the leaves are red-tipped. If so, I have them on the other side of the pool and they give a lot of privacy. One of mine died...Greg got some weed-killer on it accidentally.

I am decorating for Thanksgiving..There is a flame tipped photinia..This one is not..It is a tree sized. photinia that has berries .Last year I used the orange berries from the photinia for the large arrangements..This year red because the youpon tree is just loaded, needs pruning and the photinia berries are too high up ..I love the photinia foliage mixed in.I make arrangements on the patio next to the sliding doors and one for the fireplace..I’ll use my orange nandina berries for the buffet and table.
I’d rather do this than go grocery shopping but I must go soon!

I have the flame tipped photenia or here they called them red tip photenia. I had the nursery do that in 1980 when we built the pool. They grow to the sky. Trim them back one year and the next year they are taller. I have pretty red berries on my nandinas. By the way, my photenia lose almost all their leaves in winter. I need to replace the dead one but haven’t yet. Gotta get those curtains in the washer. Thank goodness, they don’t have to be ironed~~~

My nandina berries are orange at Thanksgiving and red by Christmas...convenient timing!

Afternoon greetings to The Finest Military Tribute.

I mentioned over the weekend that we attended two programs honoring Veterans.

Our Lord's Blessings to all.

During the service, each Veteran was presented with a special medal with the words, "Honored Veteran". I'll wear mine proudly.
