CNN Defends Its Use of Democratic Supporters in Republican YouTube Debate
Fox News ^ | November 29, 2007 | Major Garrett

After spending the day facing accusations it stacked the deck against the Republican presidential contenders by having Democratic backers ask video questions during its debate, CNN on Thursday responded that it doesn't know what the fuss is all about.

The cable news network, in collaboration with video Web site YouTube, hosted the Wednesday night debate that had more than 30 voters pose questions to the Republican candidates. It later turned out that several of those questioners are actively supporting Democratic candidates.

"The whole point of these ground-breaking CNN/YouTube debates is to focus on substantive questions of concern to real people and to throw open the process to a wider range of Americans all around the country. CNN cared about what you asked, not who you were. This was the case for both the Democratic and the Republican CNN/YouTube debates," CNN said in a statement issued late in the day.

I just have two questions.

Why did the spineless wimps do “their thing” on CNN and not FOX?

Why are the top tier RINOS whining now?

I don’t feel sorry for those %^&*&$!!!

Thank you.

That's a remarkable statement. The "Clinton News Network" certainly is brazen in trumpeting its shameless shilling for the left.

“It was wrong for CNN to use DNC plants. No doubt. Just wonder if Fox will use Guliani plants on the next GOP debate.”

You have made an excellent point.

Simple explanation. Only Dims are real people.

CNN cared about what you asked, not who you were.

The vested interests who are challenging the credibility of the questioners are trying to distract voters from the substantive issues they care most about.

Typical lib misdirection of the issue. That is not what folks on internet were exploding about. They were switching on to CNN calling the plants undecided voters, NOT challenging the credibility of the questioners!

Simply put, CNN lied. CNN tried to dupe American Citizens into thinking the phony questions are the issues American wants to know about. CNN took the "discredited low-road approach,"

And this statement indicates just how out of touch they really are!

and throughout this election campaign CNN will stay focused on what the candidates are saying about the pressing issues facing this country at a critical time in our history.

What the hell ever happened to the issues the American Citizens are ASKING ABOUT?

Has anyone asked CNN if they truly just happened to "pick" these questions, or if there was alternate application area for known activists.

I can not believe out of the supposedly 5,000 submissions they just happened to pick these six (especially the gay in the military one). Have they said straight out that these people followed the exact same application route?

“Plants are living organisms too!

Save the plants!”

Now it makes sense, CNN is only pursuing an environmentally friendly, responsible strategy to have more plants around the studio..

I guess they wouldn't mind if Republicans were planted in the Dem debates, would they?

Or would they?

CNN is clearly a biased network, biased for Hillary Clinton, of course. Why do so many not see that? And, more important, why don’t republican candidates see that? Why do they continue to appear on CNN when they know, or should know, that the deck will be stacked against them? Not only did the last ‘debate’ turn into a fixed event, but real republicans were denied the opportunity to ask questions of importance to them.

‘’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’

No, Fox should use conservative republicans at the next democratic debate......oh I forgot, the dems won't come on Fox due to the “republican conservative” bias.Very revealing. They know that the MSM stations are total shills for the left so they naturally assume that Fox would shill for the right and rig the debate. I will bet my mortgages that if we research the democratic debates there were no republican questioners that got past the researchers. After 8 years of Bush and republicans these people will do anything necessary to insure a democratic white house and congress. The stakes are high. National health care, two supreme court appointments to swing the court hard left, ending the war on terror, implementing global socialism. We shouldn't’t split hairs on who to vote for in this one. Whoever get the nod we just got to hold are nose and support until they get elected.
the alternative is too hideous to contemplate.

Agree with you there, they were on the wrong network.
Did any body watch the debate to the end...Fred Thompson said, “Guys, let’s have our own debate, let’s have several, with a few contenders at a time.” Best idea yet, no ringers, no moderators, no audience plants, no hippie guitar songs as the theme song for the debate.

Why would people already decided for Democratic candidates in Democratic primaries need to ask questions of Republican candidates in Republican primaries?

Exactly.

That this was a deliberate, planned effort done in concert with the democrats is self-evident in the sheer number of democrat operatives that "slipped through." Even one would defy odds in a pool of over five thousand submissions. But the minimum four we already knew of before morning? Baloney.

I’ve got a good question. Mrs. Clinton, should a woman who stands by her serial rapist husband be called champion of women’s rights?

Someone should start a thread. Things we’d like to ask the democrats.

substantive questions of concern to real people

What about my Confederate battle flag?

Do you actually believe the Bible?

What about gays in the military?

Hey, what kind of guns do you have, by the way?

Why did you root for the Red Sox?

Did CNN say that these were “undecided voters,” as was frequently asserted by FReepers, or not?

Yes. And better than that, they identified the focus group as "undecided Republicans...the first one of whom they queried announced that the debate has caused her to be for...John Edwards.
