What Would Free Republic Do If Fred Thompson Is Not The Republican Nominee? (Vanity)
December 9 2007 | jveritas

It is very obvious that Fred Thompson is Free Republic most favorite candidate and by far. On the other hand every other top tier Republican candidate, Guiliani, Romney, Huckabee, and McCain are absolutely disdained by most Freepers. Therefore this is the important question:

What would Free Republic do if Fred Thompson is not the Republican Party Nominee?

Whoever it is he has to put America first. So far Thompson says all of the right things.

Usually by the time I vote enough states have closed and called a winner that it doesn’t mater whether California goes one way or another.

I have voted for the (R)’s, but not for the RINOs.

well said. I hope you’re correct.

If it's Romney, I'd have to trust that he's flipped and flopped for the last time, and would vote for him. If it's Huckabee, I might be convinceable, but it really makes no difference if the nanny wears a skirt, pants, or a crusty pantsuit. If Huck renounces his nannying ways (gaining a few pounds like a normal person does under stress would go a long way in convincing me), AND he makes it crystal clear that he's not for any aspect of the Bush shamnesty, AND he is clear that islammunism is not a religion of peace, then I could vote for him without holding my nose.

If it's Rooty, then it really doesn't matter, does it? I live in NY, and the Rat is going to grab this state in November, no matter if it's Hillary or Obama.

Hillary would be far more dangerous, as not only would she get as much bureaucratic socialism instilled as possible, but she would fill every nook and cranny with Clintonistas and we’d be trying to get rid of those cockroaches for decades.

are we willing to see the COMPLETE destruction of America by allowing Hillary or, worse, Obama to win in ‘08?

Nothing is more destructive to America than RINOs in power in the Republican party.

One term of hillary would be better than electing giuliani and destroying the party and the conservative movement.

Nooooooooo!

I think you underestimate the consequences of a Hillary Administration. Her lust for power - her unequivical lust for power - and the WILL to do whatever it takes to maintain it; her desire for control of a population through debilitation. . .her disdain of our Military; our Constitution - the 'Electoral' college; Hillary's fear of success - the success of 'others' that is; her determination to eliminate all that stands in her way; and all 'who' stand in her way; only scratches the surface. There is a huge threat to America; and to you personally; and it has Hillary's name on it.

Imagine our Supreme Court. . .imagine America's 'security'; a totally debased and dispirited and insulted. . .Military - She cannot; nor can any Demrat be 'Commander-in-chief' - we canNOT do this to our Military! (We would require a Draft; because enlistments would go D O W N.) Imagine, China. . .Iran. . .Iraq. Venezuela. . .Imagine Israel. . .Imagine the United Nations with Hillary power supporting such. . . Imagine an unlimited horizon of political correctness. . .

You will not have to wait for a resurgence of Repubs after four years. . .You won't be able to find them. And you can say good-bye to Rush and 'talk radio' as we know it; as well. Just for good measure. . .

This is every Repubs 'once in a lifetime vote' that really determines how our future 'world turns'. . .for very long time.

We need a Republican leadership. Be it small 'r' or bigger. . .Conservative or NOT. ..Be very prepared to say good-by to any semblance of any 'reasoned' Leadership, protecting and guiding this Country; should Hillary assume and ascend.

Authentic power and leadership is 'humble'. . .Hillary suffers from 'powermania' as do most Demrats as well, for that matter. Be afraid - as we all are or should - be very afraid of the consequences of a 'win' for Hillary and a win for this Party.

. . . and then there is the issue - or 'the question' of Huma Imedin. . .just another footnote when considering what may well be some portents here.

We certainly have a disastrous personal accounting of Hillary's past; enough to serve us well as forewarning.

Too late smart; is just that. . .We cannot go there.

How is conservatism advanced by the likes of Rudy or Romney

The deal is to get one of them elected then after that you turn them into a conservative (instead of just voting for a conservative in the first place). At least that's what I've been told about "holding your nose and voting".

It's a piece o' cake!

We laugh ... because we know that they don't get conservative after they are elected. But it just amazes me that I can't get an answer to the questions that I have posed to the 'vote for the republican no matter what' folks I have posted to. I thought there for a while that there was a Vulcan cloaking shield keeping my posts from view, but then you came along and blew that theory out of the water!

Exactly! We’re still sweeping up from Jimmah’s debacles and disastrous choices. Exactly why I will grit my teeth and vote for Roodi, if it comes to that, and hopefully it won’t.

To those who feel they cannot vote for the candidate of the Republican Party in 2008, there is but one honorable act to perform: leave the party and form another, or cleave unto a different party.

Breaking party discipline is not an option for the good foot soldier. Representing a loyal faction within a party, while arguing your faction's positions, is strengthening your party's abilities to weather internal conflicts.

I will vote for the Republican candidate even if I have to hold my nose while I mark the ballot. I can see no other way to block the Democrats from controlling the Presidency and both houses of Congress. IMO, that must be avoided at all costs.

Even a RINO is far to the right of either Clinton or Obama.

America, our country, is more important than a political party. imho, a Democrat with Socialist tendencies who leans toward a one world order and is not willing to defend America is MUCH more dangerous than a RINO.

Don’t misunderstand, I have little tolerance for RINO’s, but I love America above all. And, while some feel certain R candidates are Dem lite (RINO’s), at least most of the R candidates are willing to defend America against terrorists. The Dems want to “talk” to people who want to kill us, simply because we’re American.
