DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE ‘EASY KILL’ IN GENERAL ELECTION
Tue Dec 11 2007 10:27:53 ET

**Exclusive**

Democrat party officials are avoiding any and all criticism of Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, insiders reveal.

The Democratic National Committee has told staffers to hold all fire, until he secures the party’s nomination.

The directive has come down from the highest levels within the party, according to a top source.

Within the DNC, Huckabee is known as the “glass jaw — and they’re just waiting to break it.”

In the last three weeks since Huckabee’s surge kicked in, the DNC hasn’t released a single press release criticizing his rising candidacy.

The last DNC press release critical of Huckabee appeared back on March 2nd.

[DNC Press Release Attack Summary:

Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20)
Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)]

In fact, as the story broke over the weekend that Huckabee said he wanted to isolate AIDS patients back in 1992, the DNC ignored the opportunity to slam the candidate from the left.

“He’ll easily be their McGovern, an easy kill,” mocked one senior Democrat operative Tuesday morning from Washington.

“His letting out murders because they shout ‘Jesus’, his wanting to put 300,000 AIDS patients and Magic Johnson into isolation, ain’t even scratching the surface of what we’ve got on him.”

The discipline the Democrats have shown in not engaging Huckabee has earned the praise of one former Republican Party official:

“The Democrats are doing a much better job restraining themselves than the GOP did in 2003 when Howard Dean looked like he was on the brink of winning the nomination.”

A close friend to Huckabee explains: “Look, Mike is Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare. They should be squirming.”

The DNC has complete disdain for anything remotely associated with the ‘religious right’. ABC (George Stuffolofgous show) displayed their disdain for Huckabee last Sunday.(Cookie Roberts/Sam Doooodleson etc) had disdain (and complete ignorance of other points of view).

It is impossible for folks in the DNC to view anything from the perspective of the ‘religious right’. As a result they look like idiots when trying to talk about anything about God (remember Kerry last election). The DNC underestimates what they don’t understand, and are scared of what they don’t understand.

A Texan in Iowa? Here are a couple of links (there are hundreds if not thousands of other threads with even more detail) which expose Mike Huckabee as certainly not conservative (taxes, immigration, government spending, foreign policy, etc.) and secondly, as less than truthful when confronted with facts about his record.

in Mike's own words

how big a whopper?

The Democrats are keeping Hillary out of sight. She lives in a glass house and we’re all standing outside with rocks. She just cancelled her third debate?

Why is the DNC divulging letting know their plans to Drudge if they can crush Huckabee that easily? They should let the Republicans elect him and then they crush him.

There is an anti-Huckabee hysteria going on FR, what if he ends up being the nominee? what are so many freepers going to do?

No, the glass jaw was John Kerry, who was coronated in the primaries. In April of 2004 Rove ran some trial balloon attacks on Kerry and saw his polls go down, since he did not have a single one in 6 months. When the Swift Boat ads came out, they exposed Kerry’s glass jaw and with he was down for the count after that.

Huck is a not a very good candidate. In fact, he is one of the more weaker ones that we have. This article is true and the democrats believe, rightfully so, they can run roughshod over Hucksterbee.

Also, other than being pro-life, what issues is he conservative on?

He brought up the ruse of the Fair Tax, but he know she can never deliver on it.

Anybody is everybody in Minnesota; hence, almost all of us heard personally from Walter Mondale that he and President Carter felt they would easily beat “that actor” from California. President Reagan won decisively.

The point is, your opposition rarely sees the real strengths of a particular candidate vis a vis their own. Before the RATS celebrate they should think some more. The political brain is an emotional brain and a person: person match-up with Hillary would result IMHO with a Huckabee win.

If Huckabee is the “glass jaw” then what would Giuliani be considered?

Our only hope.

I doubt it. Most of Huckabee's support is from the Evangelicals. While the GOP needs their votes to win, they can't do it alone.

Ari Fleisher this morning on FNC said Huckabee is simply sucking up all of Thompson’s momentum. He has been a disappointment and Huckabee was just moved in to fill the vacume.

Huckabee, the MSM “useful idiot.”

Our bench is awfull thin. I can’t even figure out who we have to run for VP. None of these guys are going to be around 4 years to run again if we lose so who would run in ‘12? I can only see Jindal but I don’t think he will be ready then. Who do you see? Thune?

There should be an anti-Huckabee hysteria.
First, he’s not remotely conservative.
Second, he has less chance than Thompson of winning a general election.

It was reported that FT is moving to Iowa until primary day, he is taking a bus around to talk to the people.

A good sign that he is very serious.
