DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE ‘EASY KILL’ IN GENERAL ELECTION
Tue Dec 11 2007 10:27:53 ET

**Exclusive**

Democrat party officials are avoiding any and all criticism of Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, insiders reveal.

The Democratic National Committee has told staffers to hold all fire, until he secures the party’s nomination.

The directive has come down from the highest levels within the party, according to a top source.

Within the DNC, Huckabee is known as the “glass jaw — and they’re just waiting to break it.”

In the last three weeks since Huckabee’s surge kicked in, the DNC hasn’t released a single press release criticizing his rising candidacy.

The last DNC press release critical of Huckabee appeared back on March 2nd.

[DNC Press Release Attack Summary:

Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20)
Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)]

In fact, as the story broke over the weekend that Huckabee said he wanted to isolate AIDS patients back in 1992, the DNC ignored the opportunity to slam the candidate from the left.

“He’ll easily be their McGovern, an easy kill,” mocked one senior Democrat operative Tuesday morning from Washington.

“His letting out murders because they shout ‘Jesus’, his wanting to put 300,000 AIDS patients and Magic Johnson into isolation, ain’t even scratching the surface of what we’ve got on him.”

The discipline the Democrats have shown in not engaging Huckabee has earned the praise of one former Republican Party official:

“The Democrats are doing a much better job restraining themselves than the GOP did in 2003 when Howard Dean looked like he was on the brink of winning the nomination.”

A close friend to Huckabee explains: “Look, Mike is Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare. They should be squirming.”

That is true about the opposition not seeing the strengths of your candidate. But a Baptist preacher man from Arkansas! I don't believe that is something that will rally anyone outside of the Evangelical base. On the other hand he does come across well. He is probably less threatening to lib’s then some of the other Christian right politicians we have had. He may actually improve perceptions of the Christian right. But the more I find about him I just do not see him as a winner.

We are roughly at the same lace we were at the end of the last Bush Presidency. We have no record nothing to run on. Nothing outside of foreign affairs and an unpopular war to run on. We have got to elect leaders who can form an aggressive agenda. instead we feel justly alienated. Our Republican leaders just take there base for granted and raise political capitol from them and spend it for there corporate interests. They say they believe this or that and then do nothing about it. If it weren't’f r the three supreme court seats that are probably going to be opening up I would just ass soon as throw them out. Even give those seats I would probably still vote them out if it were not for the fact that the Dem’s would take over. Grrr!

The witch isn't going to melt away yet. But with the risk of that theme going stale, no point in holding this back.

“He reminds me of Professor Harold Hill.”

But he can’t sing. On the other hand, neither could Robert Preston.

The NEW NEW RNC symbol is an ostrich with head in the sand.

They still think RINOs can win.

they still have not grasped DINO trumps ALL RINOs.

“Fred could fill that role nicely.” Precisely. Pretty shocking and disappointing how poorly he is doing.

Not really. He never wanted the job anyways. Last time I saw such an enemic campaign was Gary Bauer's. Pathtic. But there are so many die hard Thompsonites on this board, they cannot see the obvious, Fred doesn't want the job!

“Either way the DBM has been VERY successful in killing off any true conservative candidates.”

The DBM has been ably assisted by the true conservative candidates.

Our only hope.

Well, Rudy being the only hope is a pretty good working definition for "hopelessness."

The American people will never turn our troops over to Rudy.

Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20) Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)]

If this is true, what do they have on Fred? Or does the Dems lack of interest in Thompson reflect his irrelevance?

If Huckabee is the “glass jaw” then what would Giuliani be considered?

That's the positive with Rudy, it's all out there already.

More likely their fear of him. Kinda reminds me of the way they responded to Reagan actually. People with principles freak out 'Rats and RINOs.

All you need to do is visit the Democrat Underground on any given day to see that the Huckabee is the Democrats dream opponent. They see him as a cross between Elmer Fudd and Elmer Gantry. They claim that they could put up any candidate and beat Huckabee with no effort.

Hillary needs a dud of a Republican opponent to win, because of her high negatives. Huckabee was born for the job.

Our only hope.

You said it, Rudy can get folks from both sides and dominate the middle, which will take him to an easy victory in the general election.
