From what I know, Wilson, a Democrat coke snorter, was slick willie’s role model.
What does it matter how much money a movie makes? The amount of money a movie takes in says nothing about it’s quality. Personally I’d rather see a good movie that loses money rather than a poor movie that makes money.
Another marvelous thread you all! Glad I could contribute. I was surprised when the man himself actually returned my email. After Christmas I will finish reading everything here and see the movies. My husband already Tivo’d the docu for us to watch.
In case you or anyone else here at Free Republic does not understand, the GOP is the underdog in the 2008 Presidential election and without significant and focused efforts, by all Republicans that care about our great Country, the Democrats will win the election and take control of the Executive and Administrative branch of Federal Government. I don’t know if people want comedy. Dewey Cox, which is getting great reviews, got half the money CWW got with an even bigger ad campaign. There are a lot of possible reasons for CWW’s failure, but a Christmas quest for great comedy would not appear to be it.
It matters because that determines how likely it is for Hollywood to make more similar movies. Given that CWW is the first even handed war movie to come out since the big bombfest of the recent anti-Iraq movies it’s failure will basically tell the beancounters they were right, America is just not in the mood for war movies. So all that complaining we were doing telling Hollywood they should make a pro-America movie and it would make tons of money just turned into a bunch of hot air.

In that I was born and raised in Houston, practiced law in a top GOP supportive law firm in Houston (where my brother is a Senior Partner), and was/still am involved in the Houston GOP "inner circle", I know exactly who Charlie Wilson's is and all about his past.
That stated, I do greatly appreciate your and others posts on this matter. I believe it is very important for legal U.S. citizens, in Charlie's House Rep Texas District, to express their direct knowledge opinions.

However, I think it’s great the majority of FR members, and the Republicans we have polled, like the significantly altered final version of the movie - that was only from the result of key GOP individuals cutting the SSP off at the knees before they could release the movie’s original version.

Exactly, Charlie was a perfect, classic foil (and in the Congress, where funding is obtained, from the right side of the isle) for covert help to Afghan resistance operation.
