And Tancredo’s support of Romney means something.

As does the backing of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

So, you are demoting Immigration to pet issue status now. I highly doubt that many other freepers would agree with that designation.

Just some notes:

Abortion - Right
Gay Agenda - Right
Guns - Right
WOT - WRONG << This perception stems mainly from misquotes
Taxes - WRONG << Signed a no-tax pledge
Border Control/Immigration - WRONG << Has building the fence as the #1 point in his immigration plan
Role of Government - WRONG << couldn’t agree more
Spending - WRONG << Left a surplus at the end of his governorship
Foreign Policy - WRONG << Nearly totally ignorant of foreign policy. We have no idea of what he will do.
Federalism - WRONG << Similar compassionate-conservative big-gov’t in education we heard from GWB

>>Fred Thompson, BTW, gets 100% on this same test.<<

How much of that is perception or plans that have no record behind them?

"Rush will loose [sic] audience. Loss of audience means loss of money."

Gas leak?

Seriously, SV, don't lose perspective here -- Rush has been stable at 14M for the past five years. Nothing is going to change that. Hannity is an improving second, and the rest are nowhere.

Remember who struck first. If Ed Rollins is going to shoot off his mouth and play identity politics by trying to establish an anti-Rush meme, the negative karma will tsunami Huckabee and he won't even know what happened:

Well, I'm glad one of his supporters is listing his conservative bonafides. I tried to get another supporter to list why they felt Huck deserved conservative support and rather than provide any detail, he listed the campaign site.

Well, I actually would prefer Hunter to Huck. But it's all a matter of degree (& I'm not sure who's going to survive state by state). Since I prefer Huck to Romney & Huck to Giuliani & Huck to Paul, I'll defend his "good side" right now & concede the other consensus crits of him.

The main thing I don't like in these threads is the shrill, the tone, the whining, the sarcasms, the ad hominems against Huckabee. Finally someone posted what seems to be legit crits vs. Huckabee early today--see http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1947524/posts (but I just went there now & noticed only 42 posts...I don't get it...somebody will post something very minor & very trivial to ride Huckabee on...& you'll instantly see 75-100-125 posts...with plenty of venom to boot...but then somebody posts something more significant concern-wise about Huck...and it can't even scratch 50 posts.)

Letting criminals out of jail is not a conservative position.

Huckabee has a lot of problems but I am shocked at the level of animosity towards his candidacy around here. Huckabee is a fiscal moderate and yes this is a bad thing. However, many Freepers seem to view this as worse then Giuliani who is a social liberal. Are we really so shallow that we would care more about our taxes then about the lives of millions of babies?

Nice strawman....;)

See my post #406...I think you fit as a good example of someone who doesn’t critique w/any substance.

Actually, for whatever its worth, I believe that Jim Gilchrist the founder of the Minutement endorset Huckabee to the puzzlement of many of us. I don’t think this means that Huckabee is now great on immigration but he can talk about endorsements (which mean little) with the best of them.

The wife and I are going to caucus for Fred and so is the Mother-In-Law. None of the three of us had been planning to caucus until the weekend. So maybe he will come up some ;)

I will be looking for some comments from you when you return home. Your post was very interesting. I hope many Ohioans have had a similar response to the shenanigans going on these past few weeks. I just made a donation to FRed today and my hubby had already helped to get signatures for him to be on our state ballot. I didn't like the whole Politico.com made up story they were pushing into a news story that was run on every news channel. Another one of the non-story stories that the MSM runs over and over. Looking forward to the votes being locked in the box.

>Are we really so shallow that we would care more about our taxes then about the lives of millions of babies?

A majority of the people around here are Thompson supporters, so they care about both.

I think a third place showing for Hillary is more probable than a lot of people realize. After all, how many undecideds or second choices for sub-15% candidates are going to break her way? I expect there's a lot of "Anybody but Hillary"'s in there.

I predict third place for Hillary, with perhaps even Richardson breathing down her neck if he survives enough first votes.

OK - that’s being fair enough, but Huck’s record on taxes isn’t that great. The surplus is in the AR Consitution, but I’ll give him a little credit for not violating it.

As far as Fred...he’s always been pretty much the same on most things and admitted where he has been wrong. On immigration, his record isn’t perfect, but it’s inarguably both better than Huckabee’s as well as the other frontrunners, and his plan is damn good. Not to mention, most of Fred’s Senate record was one of supporting legal immigration and voting against anything that would encourage/legalize/allow ILLEGAL immigration or allow them to gain legal status. Huckabee’s plan looks good on paper, but since his record is a lot worse than anything Fred did or didn’t do, I can’t trust him on it.
