McGovern carried Massachusetts and DC; that was it. It was a fluke that he even got the nomination.
Old commies never die, they just keep talking stupid crap.
I also voted for Carter in 1976.
I am so ashamed!
McGovern? Is he still alive? And, if so, why?
This from the genuis who swept Minnestoa in the ‘72 election. His brain has spent too much time in the Northern Dakota saunas. Look up the word “atrophy,” George, then buy a cheap cordless drill and use it to see if anyone is home.
Can we forget when he told us that, if elected, he would crawl to Moscow on his hands and knees to obtain peace. It is difficult to believe that he fought in the air war over Europe and was a passable minor league ball-player. Washington does strange things to folks.
Which says something about those two places. He didn't even carry his home state!
No, that was Mondale in ‘84. See my post #81.
Who cares what McGoo the treasonous old fart thinks?
George was a left winger, so he fought the Germas without
hesitation. Had it been the Vietnam War, no doubt he would have struck out for Canada. By the way, he loved Castro.

Do you have a source for this? I’m not denying, just asking.
After WWII, McGovern worked for the USSR-lover Henry Wallace and never renounced his own love for the `Soviet experiment’. During the 1972 campaign I read McGovern declaring in Life magazine that he distrusted the United States military far more than he did the Soviet or Red Chinese militaries.
At least Henry Wallace later ruefully admitted he’d been played for a fool by the communists.
McGovern is by now wistfully regretful, like his confrere Pete Seeger, that true socialism has never had a real chance to succeed, except in Cuba.
He’s sort of an unindicted Alger Hiss, IMHO.
In that same book, he discusses working on Bobby Kennedy's Senate campaign. His book convinced me that I could never vote for someone as liberal as he is.
In fact, I just looked it up again, and it's on page 180 of his book.
I just checked,,,,and you can 'google' it on "Wikipedia" and type in Guiliani. It also states that he voted for McGovern and worked on Kennedy's campaigh.
Of course, he more recently proudly and publicly endorsed the far-left Cuomo over George Pataki for NY Governor. The Republican Party wouldn't even invite him to the Republican Convention in '96 because he refused to endorse Bob Dole over Bill Clinton (he finally did at the very end of the campaign). We don't need RINO's like that as a candidate for President.
Yikes!
That was a MSM invention from just seven years back.
They feared calling the Democrat states "Red" invoked parallels to Communism.
So they switched the Blue from Republican to Democrat.
George McGovern is alive?
and: MY EYES
You are right on the money, IMHO.
Democrats cannot get over the Clinton impeachment and they have been after President Bush from day one. They continue to believe Gore had the election stolen out from under him.
They paused for 9/11 and then went right back after the president. Not being able to destroy Bush, they have systematically gone after major cabinet members, beginning with John Ashcroft and Donald Rumsfeld.
And look at all the FOB’s we sent to jail without making up the crimes.
Agreed. Do you know where that list is of all the people who died and went to jail when Bill was president? I’ll look for it but thought I’d ask.
