Where does a Conservative go?(Vanity)
My feckless brain ^ | Me

Posted on 01/20/2008 1:18:25 AM PST by TexasMatty

As a Conservative I am lost. I will not, under any circumstances vote for John Mclame. He has sold Conservatives out. Nor will I vote for Jesus' favorite candidate Schmuckabee. I believe the most Conservative candidate is Thompson and can't help but wonder who is voting in these things. If Mclame or Schmuckabee is the nominee I can't vote. It will pain me deeply to not vote, but either of those clowns are no different from the lefty. Me question to my FRiends is.. WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO??? The situation seems rather desperate.

Not true...all the national polls show McCain is the only one who can beat any of the dems.

I’m sorry. It did sound like I was dismissing your comment.

I simply didn’t understand what you said.
Re-reading it, I think you’re saying Romney beats Clinton. But I’m still not sure.

For some of us it is game over.

The Chicken Little faction weighs in.

I feel I’m living in a Bizarro world. How can two libs be getting 2/3 of the primary vote in the Republican party?

Has GWB truly killed the party?

“I can’t vote for Mclame or pHuckabee.
Romney I will hold my nose and vote for.”

That’s where I’m at. No way I’d ever vote for McCain. I’m no Romney fan, but I’ll vote for him over a Clinton any day.

Because 2/3 of the Republicans agree with them.

If you love Fred, don’t give up. This race is STILL WIDE OPEN! Keep pushing for Fred in any way you can. Write newspapers in Florida, make calls for Fred in Florida, donate to his truck, and talk to everyone you know. Every little bit we can do will help Fred. Be sure to spread the word about the debate coming up this Thursday, the 24th from Palm Beach. Fred will shine through once again as the only real conservative in the race! GO FRED, ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!

Hope for a brokered convention. Fred still has a chance.

My family and I would vote for 3rd party over McCain. Not only is McCain the most liberal candidate, IMHO he also has mental problems.

We cannot have somebody in the White House whose is determined to damage this country. He is the MSM Candidate, the Amnesty Lobby Candidate, and perhaps the Manchurian Candidate.

He cruelly betrayed his first wife and he is eager to stick it to the US.

Duncan ought to consider the possible run for Ca governor, then make another run at POTUS in 2012.

“this country is finished along with u.s. conservatism.”

maybe “inevitablity” is a basic undiscovered truth.

hillary! is inevitable, socialism is inevitable and all great republics come to an end from within.

Unless things have changed a lot in the past few years, conservatives are about 20% of the voting public. That means conservatives are somewhere between 30 & 40% of the Republican ‘base’.

That’s a pretty large minority for the GOP to slap in the face. If only a quarter of those conservatives refuse to vote for the liberal or ‘moderate’ nominee on principle, the GOP will suffer the largest blowout loss since Mondales’s loss in 1984.

I am extremely sad to see this happening. Liberal and moderate Republicans compromise with Dimocrats far, far, more than they do with conservatives. The exceptions have happened when conservatives rise up and demand with loud voices that changes be made. But the natural tendency of liberal and moderate Republicans is to move leftward with legislation and appointments, not rightward.

I just hope we can maintain at least 41 votes in the Senate against the most egregious attempts in these two areas.

I can just visualize Hillary sending in the Florida National Guard with Madelyn Halfbright in the lead. Give me a break.

Eight years of Bill and Hillary gave us the USS Cole, Kobar Towers, the World Trade Center, Chinese missile technology (remember Loral?), Somalia, and Haiti, etc., etc., etc. The war against Islamo-fascism can be managed and won but not if we surrender first which is what Hillary or Obama will do.

Can’t you remember Mexican Nationals being registered to vote in California for Al Gore? Do you really believe that the left won’t do everything in their power to subvert the will of the people through crooked elections and dishonest judges? As Conservatives we may have limited influence on a Romney or McCain in the White House but would have none on a Hillary or Obama.

The game is never over if we don’t surrender first.

You do the best you can and fight for another day. But even with all the trash talking on these threads here at FR (and yes, I have been a member of FR for many years), any Republican is better than Clinton or Obama. Therefore you keep fighting for the best candidate left in the race in your mind, even if it is the best of what is left, and you vote for whomever is the nominee in the general election.

If we had a very conservative nominee win, what would we have told all the GOP moderates?

Conservatives must work harder to get one of our own to win next time. But you cannot give up just because the guy nominated is not conservative enough for you.

Any of the Repubs left will support the troops better (and I will be back in Iraq later this year), all will have more conservative social policy to some degree than the Dems, all will appoint more conservative judges, and all are at least marginally better on immigration. All miss out on one of the above at lease, but I will take a partial win in politics over a total loss any day--especially on the judge front. Anyway—take what you can get and get on with your own life—if we are truly conservative we believe we control our own destiny more than politicians control us anyway. Fight locally.

One man’s opinion anyway.

>>Has GWB truly killed the party?<<

Yes. I say that after voting for him twice and volunteering on his campaign. Bush is serially incompetent and arrogant. He executed a failed war strategy and stuck by Rumsfeld for years as our troops needlessly died. He gave us a great tax cut but stole from our grandkids to pay for it. Millions were allowed to pour over the border even after 9-11 because the business lobby wanted cheap labor. He opened the floodgate of money for homeland security so that my local fire dept. could install a fitness gym with grants. He valued personal loyalty above all else and none of us called him on it. We lost the congress in 2006 and may lose the presidency in 2008 and will face the strongest left wing government since the 60s.

The only bright side is that Democrats always screw up when they are in the majority so hopefully we can all get our house in order and retake power in 2012. In the meantime, the only thing between us and socialism is the filibuster.
