Where does a Conservative go?(Vanity)
My feckless brain ^ | Me

Posted on 01/20/2008 1:18:25 AM PST by TexasMatty

As a Conservative I am lost. I will not, under any circumstances vote for John Mclame. He has sold Conservatives out. Nor will I vote for Jesus' favorite candidate Schmuckabee. I believe the most Conservative candidate is Thompson and can't help but wonder who is voting in these things. If Mclame or Schmuckabee is the nominee I can't vote. It will pain me deeply to not vote, but either of those clowns are no different from the lefty. Me question to my FRiends is.. WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO??? The situation seems rather desperate.

Hello, huck will lose virtually every single state in a National election, in case you don’t already see that.

Against a four or five way choice between mostly RINO leftovers he had a run. - but high water has already been reached for him.

Do you expect a good showing in say, Florida?
Now, you do not have to reply at all - just think about it until January 29th.

The enemy is the democratic party and leaders that support democratic ways, like amnesty.

Worth repeating. Thanks for the reminder.
Sometimes it gets hot. :)

Damn good question. When Duncan dropped out and Fred had his trouble in SC, my Dad told me he is going to back McCain. Immigration is to big of an issue for me to do that and the Mcstain Fiengold bill is a stain on his record. And I damn sure can not trust any flip floppin, gun grabbin, baby killers. What the heck am I to do?

I got half a notion to boycott this election and just go buy more guns and ammo before the time comes. But I damn sure don’t want a mess of Hugo commie lovers taking over the White House only to undo all we have done good in regards to the WOT. I am beside myself on this one.

I am sick of this lesser of two evils business.

Gulianni or McCain will probably take Florida...then they have to chose a complimentary running mate. Both McCain and Rudy need to shore up the evangelical votes that they are weak with. Huck will bring them on-board with his votes.

I hope you can live with that.

What are you doing to do when McCain’s liberal policies screw america, the media pants that as conservatism.......

SEE, SEE!!!!! CONSERVATIVES ARE GONNA SCREW YOU OVER!

You know as well as I do that you can’t fight that, and you know just as I do that that’s exactly what they’ll do. And if you voted for McCain in the future, then complain about his liberal policies after he gets elected, you’ll find yourself in a hypocritical situation.

It’s just as Rush has said. “Conservatism rebranded”. And it will be of our own doing.

Count me out.

OTOH, I don’t think any of them will start trying to register them to vote.

No, they will just keep promoting amnesty, and then their votes are legal

It wasn’t called McCain/Kennedy for nothing.

note the map

BTW - this worked!

If you jump, then at least vote for an American. Hillary is part of the Chinese Dim Sum soup class.

Huck will bring them on-board with his votes.

And further fracture the base. - That would be the last ticket on Earth that I would vote for.

In fact, I would not vote it if it was the last ticket on Earth, and I am far from being alone.

Why is it on Freerepublic now days, when someone has a different opinion from someone else, people start attacking them personally.

It's been that way in every election cycle since I joined FR. Every time a candidate goes down, his followers declare the Republic DOOMED! It's all "My way or the Highway!". The Buchanan Brigades were probably the worst. They kept it up right through November.

It ain't pretty (or pleasant), but such is politics today. Hopefully it will settle down like it always has before November. Maybe we can even get back to debating Dem policies rather than calling each other "traitor", "liberal", etc.

I’ve thought about this alot and I think Fred needs to stick with it til the convention, regardless of how he places in any one primary. I say this because he does help spread the votes out and keep any of the others from really getting too far in front. I think having a guy like Fred in the race also keeps the other guys in line a bit and gives the races some balance. If any of the other guys are going to really get out in front, I want them to have to work their asses off. I just think it’s better if the good guy shows the fortitude to keep going against all odds. Every speech he gives, everybody who hears him talk, gets a reminder of what the real fight is for, and people need that reminder. I think Fred is really important to this presidential race whether he gets the nomination or not. And personally, I want to hear what the man will have to say at the convention.

I am afraid the voters is America are too selfish. They have latched on to groupism and it is too late. We a now a small percentage divided vote. We now are like Europe.

If the local democrat or libertarian is better in my view than the Republican, I will vote for them without hesitation.

LOL! Rinos abound, sure, but you actually think there are conservative's that get a welcoming campaign support from the Democratic Party in 2008+? Ha! Who? Someone like Jim Webb? Lieberman or Zell "Spitball" Miller?

The baby boomers have raised their children to embrace socialism.

The question is not whether you're going to be able to have a Duncan Hunter in the whitehouse, but whether or not we'll have minority leaders in the House and Senate who will be able to put the brakes on the socialist gime-gimme train, or if we're just going to accelerate into the handbasket.

During the Goldwater election, you could point to Reagan as an up and comer.

Today, the up-and-comers are? Even Rush and Levin can't put their fingers on an example of a conservative.

Russell Kirk was right. Conservative rout.

The MSM, RATS and RINOS are trying to Kill Ronald Reagan and Conservatism.

We can sugar coat this all day long. Hillary Rotten Klinton will be our next president.

I CALL UPON ALL WOULD BE REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS TO STUDY AND LEARN FROM BURKE, KIRK, RONALD REAGAN AND (the young) WILLIAM F. BUCKLEY JR..

"I have better things to do, and better places to go , than to keep the GOP company on their RINO riddled, tick filled mattresses, filled with the matted hair of the shriven, liberal socialist poseurs, they call candidates."

I read your quote to my Husband and he agrees as well! At first he thought it was a Duncan Hunter quote! (definately a compliment to you)

But the real problem is the interface between the GOP National Committee, the State GOP committees and the MSM. .... They really made it very difficult for conservatives to get traction while encouraging kooks like Ron Paul.

Pinging the "Dinosaur Media Deathwatch" principals....

Candor thinks the MSM had the power to smother the true conservatives who would've otherwise had millions scrambling to carry them to the altar. Erik thinks independents skewed the caucus. abb thinks the MSM is on the wane.

Sam thinks that the MSM, like the socialists, have more power in America than we're willing to admit.

But if true, what we are seeing in TexasMatty's bewilderment (shared by us all) is no different than soldiers refusing defeat and balking at the call to retreat from the shining city on the hill.

I try to fight this battle with friends and young kids. But Reaganism and Burkian conservatism does not sell outright these days.

We would have to do what Robt. E. Lee would not do---fight a guerilla political war for the next few decades, while we have a chance to bring the next generation around....change hearts and minds.

First, you can forget about all this political theater the democrats are putting on.

The sham fight between Obama and Hillary Clinton is designed to culminate in a grandiose media event where the two announce they have joined forces for the good of the country and the assured defeat of the evild republicans. Clinton/Obama will be their ticket this year.

With a ticket like that to run against, could there be a better time to draw a line in the sand and determine if the statistics are true that tell us, that when asked if they are liberal or conservative, a majority of Americans say they are conservative?

The republican ticket MUST be a conservative ticket if it is to be successful.

That sort of limits the field now, doesn't it? I submit our best chance would be with a Thompson/Hunter ticket.

If we do not start concentrating our forces, i.e. money on a truely conservative ticket ticket, you can expect more of what we have endured.
