Good news for Huckabee TRIBUNE-REVIEW Salena Zito Posted January 22, 2008 3 :00 PM

Democratic strategist John Lapp said, "On first blush, it would seem that (Mike) Huckabee is the main beneficiary of Fred Thompson's withdrawal. Huckabee, Thompson and, to a lesser degree, Mitt Romney were splintering the hard core, evangelical, social conservative vote. With Thompson's withdrawal, Huckabee has the chance to consolidate the far right. However, if Thompson endorses John McCain, that would be a nice conservative credential to have, considering McCain has been struggling with the mainline conservative Republican base."

We’ll soon learn if Thompson is at all a true Conservative, if he endorses for Huck or McNut, my tag line will be “F.U. Thompson”

“Ron Paul is even more palatable than them - At least we’d get sound domestic policy.”

You know what would be worth the price of a ticket?

RP vs Hillary in a debate. It would be hilarious.

This Thompson supporter isn’t at all kindly disposed toward Gomer Huckster, the Jimmy Carter of the Republican Party.

Mitt will get my support, as the least bad alternative.

My guess is he will endorse McCain; not sure it will make much difference...I supported Thompson and it will be a cold day you know where when I vote for Mccain.

Two-hand-voting now in play - One on lever, other holding nose.

You've got that right. NY's primary is coming up and I have no idea who I'll vote for -- just not interested any more. On the other hand must.stop.McCain.and.Huckabee.at.all.costs.

Thompson
Hunter
Tancredo
Romney
Giuliani
McCain
Huckabee
Paul

The top choice is gone, so you just go down the list to the next top choice. It is sad, but necessary.

Go Mitt Romney.

“I don’t think Thompson voters are going to take a shining to Huckabee”

Though Thompson was not my first choice, I am an ardent admirer of his authentic, resolute and principled style.

Huckabee is no Fred Thompson; not even close.

Let’s hope...

Democratic strategist John Napp is certainly HOPING that Fred's support goes to Huckabee.

The Democrats would be absolutely orgasmic with glee should Huckabee win the GOP nominations.

Can anyone just picture CNN, CBS, ABC, NPR, BBC -- doing story after story about Huckabee's wanting to "change the US Constitution to fit God's Constitution" or whatever it was the Huckster said last week.

A Huckabee win would validate every fear and stereotype the uber-lib media and Christian-phobes imagined about the Republicans the past 85 years.

WHITE HOUSE THEOCRACY --- Preaching from the Oval Office..... I can just hear it now!!!

Well wouldn’t you by a sense of sheer pragmatism jump to the next most conservative candidate?

“Romney/Barbour 2008 a WINNING ticket”

Hadn’t thought of Barbour. That would be absolutely GREAT.

Mike Huckabee was introduced by Governor Sonny Perdue at today’s March for Life in Atlanta. His comments went far beyond any pro-life statement I have ever heard a politician make. He obviously spoke from conviction and with real feeling for people. I will proudly vote for him in the Georgia primary.

“except that now the only border conservative is Romney. (without sovereignty the rest is moot.)”

Romney, Giuliani & Huckabee all receive “excellent” ratings on border security.
