Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

I’m upset because Duncan Hunter was my FIRST choice, and he endorsed the candidate that is the worst of all those that are left. How a man who was the no amnesty, build the fence candidate, could endorse a open borders, amnesty, socialist is beyond my comprehension!

You never know who’s had a peek at Hilary’s FBI files. Since this is a wild endorsement, all bets are off and I am going to speculate. How well does Huck know Bill and Hil anyway?

You may be right about Duncan getting played by a player, but we sure don’t want anyone that gullible in the White House.

Of course, he never had a prayer.

Yep. We’d have trusted his judgement had he become our President - he’s still the same man.

Thank you...and no, I’m not even going to wade through this thread.

I find it amazing that there’s been SO much comment on a man who so MANY mocked to begin with.

Do I have the answers to this mess of an election we seem to be in? Nope....

BUT GOD DOES!!!!!!!!!!!

Question! Were you a Hunter supporter? If so, why would you support a man who could then be so schnookered by someone you can’t support?

"No plan, just tell them to come home"

Wherein Ron Paul shows yet again that he is an ignorant, irresponsible demagogue. He is ignorant of history, incompetent in discussing anything to do with foreign affairs, and one of the most dangerous figures in public life (or would be if he ever gets above 6% in the opinion polls).

Welcome to the Club. Never expected this, but on the other hand, I've been saying for a full year now, Hilary has it in the bag.

No I'm not a defeatist, something is going on in D.C. that has 'ordained*' the Shebeast to be our next president.

And I suspect both Ex-presidents Bush will be smiling and beaming at her coronation.

I've always considered myself a conservative, first and always, the Republican Party was merely the vehicle which through I expressed my views.

Now?

I simply don't trust Huckabee/McCain/Rudy on any issue, none.

Huck will always be (in his mind) the fat kid seeking approval, thus will not be able to ignore the clamor of the smooth talking media.

McCain and Rudy will have the press go over every misdeed with a microscope, they don't stand a chance.

As I believe abortion is cold blooded murder of an innocent child, I won't ignore politics, but will watch very closely for who I will support.

Off topic: After hearing Bush's comments about bombing the Nazi Death Camps, I am now officially convinced the Air Force did have special schools for sons of rich men who wanted to play Air Force Officer.

*In every sense of the word.

I posted this the other day for which I was roundly thumped and told it wasn’t true, that Duncan wouldn’t do this. Well he did:

Did you hear Duncan Hunter on Neil Cavuto’s show today on Fox Cable TV? Asked who he would endorse now that he is out of the race, he said he wouldn’t support Romney because Mitt’s old company (which he is no longer affiliated with in any way business-wise) is involved with some business deal with China that Duncan doesn’t like. Have no idea why he goes after Romney about it; Romney doesn’t have any control over anything Bain does; he doesn’t own it or have any say so about their business dealings anymore.

However, then Duncan says the ones he would consider was the HUCKSTER whom he likes, and JOHN McCAIN. So much for your Mr. Conservative, Duncan Hunter lovers. And Fred will probably support McCAIN. So the two people who many Freepers have been championing as their conservative standard bearers, will be backing two of the most LIBERAL candidates still in the race.

Pissant has intruded into every Fred thread bashing Fred and extolling Hunter.

Naturally, people are curious as to his reaction to this very odd endorsement.

As for proper, we don’t need no proper around here.
