Fred out, Romney out, there is no joy in Trueconville today, the great Rush has struck out,

Zot me if you wish, but after all the vitriol towards me on FR, the last two GOP candidates left are McCain and Huckabee, the irony was too good to pass up.

JMO, but a lot of Freepers acted like the left with their stern demand that every person must adhere to a 110% litmus test.

With now McCain's sealing up the nomination and blaming everyone else and their dog, maybe you all should look at yourselves, despite the claims of 20 million listeners or being a top web site, the results are in and your brand of conservatism is not selling where it counts, the GOP primaries.

yep i know
his lifetime is 82 and his 2006 is 65
but again when i compare it to the big 9 and 12 for Hill and 8 and 8 for Bama he looks a heck of a lot better.
so based on this i am holding my nose and voting for him

The dark cometh, and it will be a long time here. It is going to be the fight of our lives. Full blown socialism is coming, nothing we can do but wait and be ready.

2. Obama is the nominee is beatable because he is - inexperienced

I don't think that Obama's inexperience will hurt him much among democrats or the middle. They are mostly just unhappy with the status-quo. Few of them understand the issues. Few of them listen carefully to policy questions.

Obama is likable. He's eloquent. He has a message that those voters want to believe in.

- clueless

He's clueless on foreign policy, but he's getting better at not sticking his foot in his mouth. Most of the country is clueless on foreign policy. They won't care if he needs to confer with experienced advisers on foreign policy issues.

He's not clueless with his message or his political approach.

- very liberal

His record is relatively short, and he's using that to his advantage in recreating himself.

Obama is a black Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy Carter won the Presidential election by being the candidate that represented change when people were looking for change.

Presidential approval ratings are in the crapper, and Congress' approval ratings are even lower.

Most people don't really know what they want, but they know they aren't happy with things as they are now.

The Republicans lost the majorities in Congress because they were given control of congress, yet very little changed. We got more big government, more spending on social programs, and a Senate full of RINOs that kept blocking conservative legislation, and was wishy-washy at best on conservative judicial appointments.

The Democrats ran on a platform of trashing everything the Republicans did, and won quite a few seats. However, things still didn't change in the way those who elected wanted them to change.

Bush and McCain are liberal in slightly different ways, but there are a lot of similarities, especially on immigration. He's going to have a hard time convincing people he's going to bring about meaningful change, especially Republicans.

Hillary Clinton represents the same old corruption and even more arrogance than her husband. She's not what moderates and independents are looking for, and she's not want the anti-war left is looking for either.

Obama has the advantage of being more of an unknown, and while people know they don't like the other options, they have hopes for him.

He knows it, and is exploiting it well.

He also has the support of a lot of influential people. He'll have the support of the media. He's got the backing of big 527s like MoveOn.org. He doesn't illicit the same level of hate that Hillary does from the right.

McCain is trying to sell the same message of change. However, he doesn't have the support of his base. He won't have the funding. His biggest advantage is the media, and they will abandon him in favor of Obama.

I think Hillary is more beatable.

However, who would be worse to have in office, Hillary or Obama?

I know for sure that I don't want Hillary, but is the devil you know better than the devil you don't?

I give up.

Hope God doesn’t give us what we deserve.

Not me. His position on amnesty is a bridge too far for me, because that one stand in and of itself, once carried to fruition, will bring about a huge majority of entitlement voters who will then always vote for the socialist. So will the others, so I can’t vote for any of them. I won’t look back and know that I had however a small part in this. Cold comfort, but it’s all I can do.

Gov Romney it’s time to endorse Huckabee and throw him your delegates. Campaign with him if you are serious about stopping McCain.

Problem with that is Huck isn't any better. A Christian Socialist nanny-stater who can't wait until he can put the full force of the Federal Government behind his leftist programs.

Jeez. All this agita over people who mean nothing. The President has little to do with real progress or innovation in business, science, medicine or technology. We The People take care of that.

Nine months in the life of a seventy-one year old is a LONG time. It ain't over 'til it's over.

McCain is no Andrea Doria I think.

“liberals” “conservatives”
Reallity is more important than words which are many times not perfectly accurate....Mc Cain is right on some issues,Huckabee is right on some other issues...Just go on fighting and hoping

“your brand of conservatism is not selling where it counts”

Where it counts most is exactly where it is today—in the hearts of most Americans, same as ever.

What’s happening in these silly little primaries is a large scale hoodwinking. There’s no way it can last.
