I asked a co-worker (who is quite afrocentric) and I asked her if OBH is destroyed in the primaries by HRC will she still vote for HRC? She said absolutely. I asked why? She wouldn't give me a straight answer. But she said muttered something about "give the country a change"

Amen. After 9-11 I can’t believe Americans would vote for anyone with even a HINT of an Islamic past. Obama can say all he wants how he’s a Christian, but I’ll never trust him. Here is what I would LOVE to see. Obama goes to the convention in the lead. However, the superdelegates give Clinton their support thus making her the winner. That would alienate the black vote more than anything!

I would be concerned that such an event might to more than merely "alienate" blacks. If such an event happened, I would be likely to avoid driving through any black areas until I was sure what the reaction was

I think the reason your afro-centric co-worker won't give you a straight answer, is because the answer is that she's hoping that a Dem administration will impose more draconian "affirmative action" requirements on businesses, which will have the short-term result of increasing her promotion chances. The long-term effect, of course, will be to encourage more businesses to move off shore, but she's not bright enough to see that

I once had a very Afro-centric co-worker. He was going on and on about the African Egyptians. He didn't like it when I pointed out to him that West Africans (as in blacks who came to America) were unlikely to have any significant Egyptian ancestry. Sorry, he isn’t going to beat her, and I do not at all believe the popular wisdom that Obama is some demigod who cannot be overcome.

I believe that McCain could actually beat him handily, due to a number of intrinsic factors unique to his candidacy in the general.

Clinton’s crying aside, Obama’s nomination would be very bad for the GOP (and the USA) in the general election. I’m hoping that Hillary will catch up, but I doubt it. She is the easier candidate to beat. Remember this — CLINTON NEVER GOT 50% OF THE NATIONAL VOTE IN 2 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS. Hillary’s will be even less. She’s easy to beat.
An Obama nomination on the other hand will be tough to beat.
This is especially true now that Conservatives are split over John McCain. Even as he is reaching out to us, many of us are spitting at the hand that he reached out for the simple reason that he needs to be PUNISHED.
All the good things he did in the past -— Being a stalwart Reagan foot soldier, being staunchly pro-life, voting for every single Bush judge and justice appointee, defending Bush’s policy in Iraq even when it was unpopular, etc. are FORGOTTEN or GLOSSED OVER in order to focus on his heresies.

I see either Hillbilly or Obama as a disaster for the country, yet the various GOP camps are attacking each other like rabid dogs. I'm an Arizonan and I don't particularly care for McCain, but I'll certainly vote for him if he's nominated. Anyone who seriously thinks (or thought) that Huckabee could ever win belongs in the Bob Dole hall of fame.
Yet there are many professed Republicans who flat-out state they'll sit on their hands before they'll pull the lever for McCain! Why don't 2/3 of us simply cut off our noses to spite our face?
