John McCain funded by Soros since 2001

Candidate's Reform Institute also accepted funds from Teresa Kerry

As Sen. John McCain assumes the GOP front-runner mantle, his long-standing, but little-noticed association with left-wing donors such as George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry is receiving new attention among his Republican critics.

In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.

McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.

In 2006, the Arizona senator was forced to sever his formal ties with the Reform Institute after a controversial $200,000 contribution from Cablevision came to light. McCain solicited the donation for the Reform Institute using his membership on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, he supported Cablevision's push to introduce the more profitable al la carte pricing, rather than packages of TV programming.

No big deal.

Soros has been funding Ron Paul's presidential campaign since Day One if you believe some of the posters on this site.

(I thought Corsi was off-limits here. Or does he get a pass for an anti-McCain screed?)

I posted them on this very thread that we are on at post #142. I don't want to tweak the mods again by posting them too often.

never forget, too, that McCain almost defected from the Republican party in 2001

And the libs told him - STAY PUT, YOU ARE MORE EFFECTIVE TO US WHERE YOU ARE! And/or possibly the GOP said, you will be our anointed one in 2008.

Very interesting. I still did not see a direct Soros/Tides connection in the article. That gives me a bit of caution.

I try to do that now with a one link post-back. When I update the list with a few new links I post it on a relevant new thread and start back-linking to that. I’ve added about 8-10 links since yesterday afternoon.

And to think - one or two blips on any other candidate’s ‘resume’ and they are cast aside - McCain’s are truly over the top.

Why is it - his staff left early on in the campaign - lack of funds and then in a moment - he’s back in business and rose to the top - funds no problem?

Interesting. I wonder if the Reform Institute is funding or backing the publication of Climate Change propaganda.

It’s on google books—gotta check it out:

all the races have got to be fixed

There is NO DOUBT in my mind - it's all too obvious. No one should stay home - vote against the establishment's chosen.

What is even more interesting is this:

U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce

Col. Eric Rojo

I’m all for caution, but in this case, it used to be on their website and has been written about before from some pretty reliable folks:

John McCain Gets Soros Cash
DiscovertheNetwork.org / March 10, 2005 | Richard Poe

Senator John McCain’s Reform Institute has suffered some bad press recently due to its involvement in an influence-peddling scandal with Cablevision. As usual, however, mainstream media have failed to go to the root of the matter.

Founded on June 26, 2001, McCain’s Reform Institute for Campaign and Election Issues has long served as a nerve center for the so-called “campaign finance reform” movement – a movement which has done nothing to clean up campaign finance, but has done a great deal to empower federal judges and government bureaucrats to regulate political speech, in defiance of the Bill of Rights.

Now here’s the kicker. The list of donors published on the Reform Institute’s Web site reads like a veritable Who’s Who of radical, leftwing foundations, including the Tides Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Proteus Fund and George Soros’ Open Society Institute. (hat tip, Winfield Myers)
