I see a thread with some very bitter PC owners.

I’m a long time Mac user with 5 Macs of various vintages ... all of which still work. A video iPod Nano and a new 32 Gig iTouch on which I just watched Ratatouille [nice movie from Steve Jobs’ pervious gig at Pixar].

Believe me I work on lots of ugly Bill Gates [another lib] boxes at work all of which have annoying ticks and quirks ... when they work. Oh, and the ones that never quite get cured after a spyware infection.

Buy a Mac, you’ll be glad you did.

This is stupid. Macs ARE better, especially the newer ones that run unix as their operating system.

Of course Mercedes owners also tend to be snobbish, and rightly so.

That being said, I run a Windows box because I prefer the selection of games that are available for Windows compared to Mac OS or Linux.

I would not be surprised if in 10 years that Microsoft does what Apple did and ends up using unix (linux) as the underlying basis for Windows like unix is now for Mac OS.

The key difference I’ve found is that Mac users really don’t know much about Computers.

Oh please. Much of the difference has to do with the software one works with. Design/production professionals prefer macs. Business people, accountants, students, etc, go pc.

They never do. :-)

I think market share contradicts that claim.

I agree even though you obviously are one of those ignorant unwashed peasants I don't associate with. Small market share is the reason I passed on buying a Ferrari.

..which is really refreshing because I’d have to go medieval on their butts and reformat their systems with OpenBSD if they did. ;-)”

It’s not been a problem for me. And that’s on a G3 at 1.2GHz. No different than this XP box on an AMD Athlon at 1.5GHz.

It seems your post is all about the spin, though. Just not quite the way you think.

Of course we are snobs--did you think we were part of the common folk?

LOL!

One of my favorite satires on the whole Mac-PC thing was this article:

Apple fires 'smug little twit'

The MAJOR drawback ot macs,

lack of freeware and plethora of programs.

Face it, people write for Windows. I can d-load all

the free programs i could ever want whereas with Apple you

either buy it or use an illegal crack version.

I dont buy the comparison of super expensive luxury cars’ market share to market share of what amounts to a less useful computer.

They are arrogant, into flashy fashions and teeth whitening.

And golden microphones.

...a less useful computer.

The system that can run all three main operating systems (at once) is somehow less useful than the one that cannot?

Though not mentioned in the video, I’ll bet many Mac users also like show tunes.

LOL... great post. I’ll have to think up the fashionware I need to be sporting now. I overlap somewhat with you, but I’ve got my own cultishness to deal with, too.

That is clearly not what I’m saying, since I did not say that.

With a Mac, I can run as many Windows virtual machines as I want—without having to reboot to switch between them (VMWare Fusion or Parallels.) And Windows on a VM reboots far more quickly than it does natively. And I can move my Windows VM around on an external drive, and run it anyware I have access to a Mac.

And of course, I can use my Mac software also. It’s not just the best of both worlds, it’s better than having a single native Windows installation. There’s really no good reason to run windows as the native host OS anymore.

I don’t think most of us need this functionality.

I know seven Mac users. Three of them (all women) are indeed Birkenstock-wearing, granola-munching, died-in-the-wool liberals.

Most of the liberal ladies I know have old, crappy Windows PCs. Machines like this need frequent "de-chicking", so these are my best customers.
