I am an American before I am a conservative
The Collins Report ^ | Feb 18, 2008 | John F, Allen

Posted on 02/19/2008 5:00:33 AM PST by jmaroneps37

I am an American conservative not a conservative American. To me they are two very different things. I recognize the extreme danger America would from a Democrat president. There is no chance I would ever vote for a Democrat or stay home. America is too important to me. I am sick of people playing politics with the future of my country.

Given the choice between the conservative movement and my country, I will vote for the safety of America in a heartbeat. I will never vote to teach the country a “lesson” with a Democrat president. I don’t play with my family’s safety. The election of either fallen away Muslim or a woman will infuriate our Islamist enemies. The “experts” playing with this fire can make believe this won’t be the case, but they are wrong.. But we should not allow them pick our president you say. I agree.

The Democrats are for higher taxes, open borders and Ruth Ginsbergs. McCain may/may not give us higher taxes, he may be persuaded to close the borders. We will have a better chance of getting a Roberts not a Ginsberg from. The real issue is national security. There is no comparing a Democrat Commander in Chief with McCain in that position. With Iraq is becoming a winning situation, why are so many conservatives willingly joining liberals in making believe the War on Terror is over and we can start spending the “peace dividend?”

I’m 100% pro life. McCain is about 95% pro life. Either Democrat is zero pro life and in fact Obama supported a bill to euthanize inconvenient born babies.

We won’t get a truly conservative president this time. We can always rebuild the conservative movement during and after McCain, but we can never rebuild America after Democrats destroy our America.

McCain gives us a strong military, an anti pork approach, a willingness to listen on taxes and the border and a better chance at judges who will not be aclu lawyers. The negatives he brings are many of the same we would get with either the kalif or the beast, but they would give us total socialism.

Fear mongering to push the liberal/socialist republican agenda.

McCain won’t even secure our borders to protect the US.

Here we go again, the usual flag draping argument to compel people to vote for the SELECTED candidate.

Maybe these people could come up with a different tactic. This one is old and transparent.

They are. The "The election of either fallen away Muslim or a woman will infuriate our Islamist enemies" thing is new. It's crap, but it's new.

We vote for a government, not just a President.

We need to concentrate our efforts on Congress, and collectively work for, support and fight for the election of Republicans to Congress - because the Presidency has already been lost.

For many here, it’s my way or the hiway.

If I can’t play shortstop I’ll take my ball and go home.

It’s not about the country or the party, It’s all about me.

This and other recent attempts to seek recconcilliation are premature.

There are several months to resolve the issues. The time will pass, there will be movement in opinions. By November there will be action that will allow development of a shaky but large diameter coalition.

McCain is about 95% pro life.

Well, you can murder some or the people some of the time...(/sarc).McCain's Socialist bent has manifested itself in the anti-constitutional measures he has not just supported, but sponsored.

The Republicans in Congress will support him or risk loss of Party support and their jobs. The Dems will work in the spirit of 'bipartisanship' and add in a few demands, which will further their agendae as never before.

At least with a rat in the oval office, the 'pubbies in Congress might make some semblance of a fight.

Gridlock is good.

The problem conservatives have with Bush is that we projected a conservative image on him that he did not claim. For example, he was not for school choice, smaller government or boarder control. We projected that image on him. He ended up being very strong on life, taxes, defense and ethics.

McCain will not have a projected image on him because we know so much about him. He will be strong on defense, spending and life. We need to hold him to a promise of securing the border and making the tax cut permanent. We need to make sure he gets a strong economic team together.

It's all good as long as we remember the game of politics never ends- you can't vote and go home and believe you won. Did not the Clintons kicking us around in the 90's teach us anything?

So am I. In order to save America, she must turn to Conservatism. So the only hope for America is to place Conservatism first and foremost. That's why I won't vote for McCain and I will vote for the Constitution Party candidate.

Thanks for helping me clarify that!

I don't know this John F. Allen from Adam, but the rube better get in the back of that very long line.

His bit about ... " ... we can never rebuild America after Democrats destroy our America ... is typical of the head in the sand syndrome that has affected many of us.

We will rebuild ... let the thinning of the herds begin.
