BREAKING - Tom McClintock to Announce Tuesday Morning in Auburn, CA Posted by Aaron Park on February 27, 2008 at 04:08 PM

The long anticipated entry of State Senator Tom McClintock into the race for the 4th Congressional District is reality.

At 10AM Tuesday March 4th, 2008, on the steps of the same historic courthouse in Auburn, CA where Doug Ose announced a couple of weeks ago… Tom McClintock will officially launch his campaign.

Rico Oller will be discontinuing his campaign for the 4th CD and will be endorsing Tom McClintock for Congress.

The CRA will be able to convene quickly and transfer their endorsement and the Club for Growth is widely expected to transfer their support as well.

Ose has trumpeted several local endorsements and has been promoting them in a variety of media.

Doug Ose has spent an estimated $300,000 of the nearly $500,000 warchest he had left over from 1998. (money exempted from McCain-Feingold.) Despite an agressive campaign and this expenditure, Ose has gained little or no traction in polling.

Currently, Doug Ose is in Washington, DC trying to rally support from skeptical former colleagues.

McClintock has 70% name ID in the 4th CD and numbers he has show him with 60% support amongst likely voters in the 4th CD.

This stands in stark contrast to Doug Ose who claims a 10% lead over Rico Oller and being dead even with Charlie Brown. (source – Ose for Congress Website)

McClintock’s entry into the race will remove the 4th Congressional from all national target lists.

wish he’d try for governor. He was the one who should have gotten the nomination during the first place til Schwartze somebody shoved himself in there.

This was posted earlier today:

Dear E-Team:

As you may have heard I am seriously considering running for Congress in the 4th Congressional district. While no final decision has been made yet, all initial indications are very favorable. This is a district where Republicans outnumber Democrats by over 17 percent and polling shows me in a very powerful position to win the Republican nomination and take on the Democrat who performed strongly in the 2006 election.

We have opened an exploratory committee to raise the funds necessary to take the initial steps before I am able to commit to this race. Your generous support would allow me to complete the exploratory process expeditiously and would weigh heavily as I prepare to make the final decision.

Federal law limits contributions to $2,300 per person (corporate contributions are prohibited). Contributions may be made securely on our website. Checks may also be sent to:

McClintock Congressional Exploratory Committee
C/O Igor Birman
1029 K Street, Suite 44
Sacramento, CA 95814

You have stood with me over the years and I am grateful from the bottom of my heart. I look forward to communicating with you again soon as I make the final decision in regards to this campaign.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Tom McClintock

Looks like he’s gonna do it.

Look for Eric England to announce his support for McClintock’s candidacy.

Congressional district...why isn’t he running for PRESIDENT?

How in the world can he run for President without even a win in an election. I think he is playing it right. Start with baby steps. Maybe after ten years in the House, he can run for Governor and do eight years and then he will definitely be ready for President.

For those outside of California, this is a very good man. He is what the Founding Fathers envisionsed in doing the people’s business.

Yea, run Tom run!

Not only do we share the same first name, now we will share the same congressional district.

Print the flyers and gather the phone numbers. I'll be ready to donate and start working as soon as its official.
