Won’t help us win the seat, though.

I heard that guy Jim Obonowski or somebody who made such a competitive run in the House seat was running here - isn’t that right?

This isn’t a nationwide poll. This is a poll of the people of Massachusetts, not known for their conservative leanings or Republican voting habits. That Kerry is polling so poorly there, and has been for months, is amazing. He’s clearly wearing out his welcome.

The fact remains that Massachusetts is a heavily Rodent state, yet Kerry’s popularity there is at its lowest point in his career. What do you think is causing the public there to sour on him?

Wow....below 50 percent. That's going to leave a mark.

He will be re-elected, period. First, no other Dem is going to challenge the cancerours hold of the Dem Party and one of theirs in a primary. Secondly there is nary a Republican in Mass who is going to mount a challenge in a general election. Keep in mind, when it comes to politics, Mass is like northern California sans the Pacific view.

Like most Massachusetts families, we were away for February vacation when this poll was taken. Last day of school 2/15/08... first day back to school..2/25/08.
Hmmm.. .
I am not suggesting anything curious regarding the timing of this Channel 4 poll...
of course not.

Get this: 35% of Massachusetts Republicans approve of the job Ted Kennedy is doing as Senator — and 41% of self-described conservatives.

Part of it is constituant services- something that Kerry thinks is beneath him, but that Kennedy and his staff do to the hilt.

Can't tell you, but probably the place to look is wherever Kerry and Ted Kennedy are at wrong ends from the moderate and conservative POV. Kerry and Kennedy's support among liberals is pretty identical: +50 point advantage for one, +53 for the other. But with moderates, Kennedy is +17 where Kerry is -2; and with conservatives Kennedy is -17 where Kerry is a whopping -51.

There are two main names in the running for the Republican Nomination: Jim Ogonowski and Jeff Beatty.
