Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama's first Hollywood fundraiser was co-hosted by a supporter of the terrorists in Iraq. The Hollywood bibleVariety reported that Code Pink's Jodie Evans co-hosted the Obama event with her ex-husband Max Palevsky and Dreamworks partners Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen in February 2007.
In 2005 while attending the World Trbunal on Iraq in Istanbul, Evans gushed approvingly of the terrorists in Iraq in a statement originally published on the Code Pink website:
"We must begin by really standing with the Iraqi people and defending their right to resist. I can remain myself against all forms of violence, and yet I cannot judge what someone has to do when pushed to the wall to protect all they love. The Iraqi people are fighting for their country, to protect their families and to preserve all they love. They are fighting for their lives, and we are fighting for lies." (AlterNet, June 26, 2005)
Code Pink endorsed the findings of the World Tribunal on Iraq that expressed unqualified support for the terrorists in Iraq.
When Evans co-hosted the Obama fundraiser, she had just returned from Cuba as a guest of the Castro government where she and her Code Pink partner Medea Benjamin protested the U.S. military's terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo. (A year before that, Evans had been a guest of Castro wannabe Hugo Chavez in Venezuala.)
In December 2004, Evans helped Code Pink deliver $650,000 in cash and humanitarian aid to families of the terrorists in Fallujah. At the time, the U.S. military was waging a major campaign to retake the city from Al Qaeda in Iraq. The recent film about the insurgency in Iraq, Meeting Resistance, showed that family members of the insurgency are intimately involved in aiding terrorist activities.
Recent news articles have reported on Evans' bundling more than $50,000 in contributions to Sen. Obama's presidential campaign, as well as her $2300 personal contribution to that campaign. The revelation that she was selected by Obama to co-host his first fundraiser in Hollywood takes their political relationship to a new, more personal level.
Evans' radical anti-American politics are no secret. The news of her trip to Castro's Cuba just weeks before the fundraiser was widely reported. The knowledge of her support for the terrorists in Iraq was easily obtainable by doing a quick Internet search. That Barack Obama not only accepted Jodie Evans' money, but also gave her the honor of co-hosting his first Hollywood fundraiser, should raise great concerns that he shares her radical pro-terrorist politics.

Ever notice that Norman Hsu dissapeared from the News as quick as a flash. Wouldn’t want any proven scandal dissipate anybody’s run-in with the Presidency would we?
It is very serious stuff though, Kristinn. While you and others went to Iraq a few times(I recall reading about the trips), there is a Presidential candidate(not nominee) who has been allied with somebody who would like to see you, and all of us dead(funding the enemy is that serious). I still cannot believe that she gave money to terrorists in Fallujah which shows that Code Pink isn’t Anti-War but Pro-Terrorist. And Medea Benjamin was in Castro’s haven for 20 years(as long as Obama was with the Reverend Wright). Like I’ve said, it is almost like Obama supporters are made up of every radical from the 60s. The problem is that fiscal associations with Saddam are easy to find, but those who actually prolong the war for us to lose are very hard to find.
Even Jane Fonda didn’t give funds to the enemy. She sure increased morale though to them.
If Ron Paul can be held accountable for associating with seedy people, why can’t Obama, and Hillary? They should be, afterall this is where the Clintons have held fundraisers and near where Obama’s “bitter” speech was made. Both candidates should be held accountable and if Democrats want to win to put up somebody who cannot be so tainted. Even Al Gore can have new life compared to both of them.

So why did you not bring it to everyone’s attention back in 2007? Because the reality is that in 2007 few Americans even knew who Barak Obama was. Absolutely no one knew or figured he would most likely become the Democratic Presidential nominee. So yes it is breaking news and I appluad Kristinn for realizing the importance of an event that took place over a year ago and bringing it to everyone’s attention.

I have often questioned what exactly qualifies as "Breaking News" on FR and have been quite disgusted with some of the titles that seem to reach "Breaking News" status.

Ah, I believe it might be heresy(even mentioned on here a few times) so you win this duel.
I will concede something. Even if Larry Sinclair lied or is a delusional maniac in the style of Kitty Kelley, he did talk a little bit about Obama’s early days in a way that could be quite connective. He is also the only person that could even be reached on Obama’s past.
If a felon can make Bush be questioned about his hypothetical cocaine use why can’t Larry Sinclair become a question(aside from the Media fawning over Obama)? It can’t sink his candidacy if he did a few flings of cocaine with this guy. If there was somebody murdered named Donald and Obama was a typical thug back in his “Street Community Organizer” days, that might sink his candidacy.
I have heard, however, that we cannot use him because a polygraph test rendered him a liar, I will say that it is very weird that Larry Sinclair(of all people) will have to take a test like that. It also didn’t say what he lied about. Even so, like I said, I don’t think that Obama’s past is very different from what Sinclair has said.
Except for the homosexual fetish. I don’t know if it would sink Obama but it would make him look weird, that the first serious black candidate would have homosexual flings. I think even the black bloc, who usually votes Democrat, would be a little bit reluctant to vote for a guy like that. If there is one thing that they cannot stand, it is somebody who has pillow fetishes.
So, while it might take me some time to dig up links(even posted on here) about Larry Sinclair and how he is an unreliable witness, there is something about the story that won’t go away and that is.....if Obama was a cocaine user who lived on food stamps(as he said) while doing work as a Community Organizer for layed off steel workers, could there be something thuggish and something so seedy they might need a replacement if he gets the nomination? Yes. Could there be a Larry Sinclair in the picture? Also yes.
