Authentically Black.
Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 07/07/2008 6:14:16 PM PDT by Lloyd Marcus

Authentically black. What the heck does that mean? Am I the only person on the planet who sees the blatant racism in such a statement? I love sushi. I prefer country music over rap. Does this make me less black?

White and black liberal democrats say if you don't fit their angry urbanite, Ebonics speaking, “who's the daddy” TV talk show viewing, welfare recipient with a criminal record stereotype, you are not authentically black. Looking down their intellectual and self-righteous noses of superiority they proclaim to minorities, “you poor inferior victims of American oppression, we sympathize and feel your pain”. They're offended by individuals who escape or bypass their “ghetto experience” box and go on to achieve great success. How arrogant. How racist.

Imagine MLK brought back to life and told, “Dr King, blacks who are educated, sophisticated, articulate and harbor no resentment against America are called Uncle Toms, traitors and inauthentic”. Dr King would think himself in an episode of the “Twilight Zone”.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of civil rights pioneers such as MLK, blacks are thriving in all areas of American business, society and influence. Unfortunately, benefactors of the civil rights movement are persecuted by liberals who claim to have their best interest at heart.

For libs who think I'm not authentically black, I'll spout a little hood lingo, “Yo, peace out”.

I’ll confirm that. I’m a southern boy, 100%. I moved to Worcester one winter to build scenery for a theater. Never in my life have I met more low-class, redneckish, racist, uneducated morons than in Mass. I was shocked.

There were good people too, to be fair- but I’ve never met dirtbags in the south as bad as that.

No,Marcus IS a true black man-he is a critical thinker and an intellectual who sees through the nonsense and pretensions of the fakers and charlatans out there today.
A little story-my dear friend at work,a consumate black intellectual and Renaissance man,was hidden away in a corner of the locker room perusing a science book.Several of the”real” brothers walked in and not knowing my friend was in the room yapped out,That n***** Robert think he all that, reading them damn books all the time”
Like Ice T said,”Do you realize how ignorant you sound, thats the attitude that holds my people down”

True that. You won’t believe how many of my former New Left associates who so loved to”Smash Racism”in the Sixties, now live in expensive gated communities designed to keep out”those people”.Or else they TRY to be so multicultural but are considered complete squares by the current crop of blacks who seem them as mildly amusing at times but hopelessly archaic.

I think it's going to be bad for awhile, Lloyd, but then I think it's going to be all right. All of these stereotypes, these exaggerations, all of the crap that makes us want to hate one another, it won't last in the face of simple human decency. Grit your teeth. We're going to make it.

Now, country music?

This'd be Bill Pickett. I don't think he'd take kindly to rap. Or glorification of thugs. But he was kind of long on human decency.

“I’m still trying to find out from others on this site if I am “authentically” white. Any ideas?”

Are you bitterly clinging to your guns and religion? That would at least make you typically white. Right?

I don't know about the black thing, buy we're going to have to clip a corner off your man card for eating sushi.

Poor rural whites who speak substandard English, watch Jerry Springer, receive welfare, and have criminal records aren't considered "authentic" by liberals.

The leftist part of the Black community decides who is authentically black.

I have never wondered in my life whether I was “authentically white”, and I’m not going to start now. The whole notion of racial authenticity is ridiculous. People are who they are, and everyone is a little different.

According to the definition of racism in my dictionary, I don't see it. Perhaps the statement is offensive, definitely ignorant, but I don't see any racism.

Nah. It is very much like that show Survivor. Every time they circle gets smaller, they turn on another of their own. They are so antisocial, they will turn on themselves when they run out of others.

LOL. True about the gun part, especially as I am surrounded by hoplophobes here in New Jersey. I am far from bitter, but aggressively vigilant against parlor pink gun grabbers from the Chicago area.

Lloyd, my friend, you haven’t lived until you’ve been told by a (supposed) fellow black conservative that, “You’re not black”.

An article quoting JC Watts as saying that he might support Obama is what initiated that little remark to me.

Now, I’m accustomed to being the odd-man-out in my family and anywhere in the black community, but I’d like to think that I could expect some common sense of community from my fellow black conservatives.

Having said that, I promote post-racialism whenever I can. I was actually raised that way by my very far-thinking and prescient parents, who saw that as the real solution to race troubles. I honestly don’t give a damn about anyone’s paint job.

As to the point of your post, I get it all the time, but I learned to ignore it a long time ago.
