I was avoiding thinking about it all day. Now I finally must.

YOu know how much we’ll miss “Elvis” Snow.

God Bless You, Bah.

The world is now much less for his absence.

"Robert Anthony Snow is survived by his wife, Jill Ellen Walker, whom he married in 1987, and three children, Kendall, Robbie, and Kristi."

God bless them and keep them throughout this sorrowful night and in the difficult days to come. Our hearts go out to you, Snow family....

Just knowing that I will never hear that calming voice again, is very difficult to process.

How I loved being a snowflake!

I know that he liked good music...and couldn’t STAND Kenny G!

That’s one thing we would have had to disagree about. I like
Kenny G. LOL!

I love the 5 random things idea! I purchased a Jethro Tull album (Living in the Past) I’m a former flute player, seeing Tony playing with Ian made me hunger for the music.

I’m sure Tony is playing with the heavenly chorus even now. And it is righteously pure. You go Tony!

Hi Miss Marple - glad you are here. This is a great gathering thread, isn’t it?

I bet Tony Snow’s words to many about getting colonoscopies (sp?) NOW rather than later has saved many lives.

My next one - had one 5 years ago - is due this year...will be sure this appointment is made this week!

So much to say about where Tony grew up. His high school was one of our main football rivals each year (still is), but it was a time of Princeton’s ascendancy. What’s remarkable about it in that era is that his school was a thoroughly integrated, happy, successful place. Most of the remainder of the city seemed to be bastions of segregation, neighborhood by neighborhood, and school by school. Others were seething.

But Princeton always seemed to rise above that somehow. And theirs weren’t rich sophisticated neighborhoods. They were very middle class. What a great place to grow up.

Per your request...

When my Mom died (Feb 24th) I asked all her friends...well everyone that knew me or her...instead of sending flowers or gifts, or even cards, please: Perform five random acts of kindness in her honor. These can be anything from holding open a door for someone behind you, or letting someone in front of you in traffic, etc. My Dad used to cut coupons and would put them near the items in the grocery store--you could be a coupon angel even....ANYthing kind. Then, either silently or aloud say, "This act of kindness was done in ____ honor. God Bless _____."

A friend of mine who staffs for a local Hospice told me that her boss was so impressed with that idea, that they officially put it into their program. She said, "The families of those with cancer so often ---don't know what they can do to help. This gives them something to do for the living, too....to do something good, in their loved one's honor. It brings beneficial energy and hope." I was thrilled that my Mom had a small part in that. Also, I got reports back from her friends that they felt her near them, when they did their act of kindness...it was weird and very wonderful.

LET'S ALL DO FIVE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS IN TONY'S NAME!!!

Sounds like it, xzins, sounds like the high school I attended here in L.A early ‘60s.... also unlike other schools in the area. We were blessed.

You grew up in the same area as Tony?

Yep. We would have shopped at the same mall. We were probably about 7 miles apart. They were a great, great football school at that time.

Finally reached the end of these tributes and see that no one has posted Bob Bechtel’s ? remarks about the time he and Tony were in Hawaii. I believe they were going to be on a panel discussion, offering opposite views.

Tony said they should both wear Hawaiian shirts. Bob said, “Tony found one right away, but there were none in my size, so Tony asked me for the white shirt I was wearing. He took it out and found an artist painting designs on t-shirts, and had him paint Hawaiian designs all over my shirt”!

Hope we hear lots of similar stories in the coming days about our Tony.

Goodnight all. Wonder what the total posts will be in the morning?

How nice to know that. I like that he stayed in touch with his old school. The area, I trust, will pay him a fitting tribute.
