Obama and McCain tied in daily Rasmussen tracking(first time since June 3)

The race for the White House is tied. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Barack Obama and John McCain each attract 43% of the vote. When "leaners" are included, Obama holds a statistically insignificant 47% to 46% advantage. Today is the first time that McCain’s support has moved above 45% since Obama clinched the nomination on June 3. It’s also the first time the candidates have been tied since Obama clinched the Democratic nomination (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day (see recent demographic highlights).

For most of the past month-and-a-half, Obama has led McCain by approximately five percentage points. It remains to be seen whether this recent tightening of the race reflects real change or is merely statistical noise. Check out our weekly review—What They Told Us—to see what was on voters’ minds this past week.

McCain is now viewed favorably by 56% of voters, Obama by 54%. Obama receives unfavorable reviews from 44% of voters while McCain is viewed unfavorably by 41%. McCain earns favorable ratings from 32% of Democrats while Obama is viewed favorably by 22% of Republicans. Among unaffiliated voters, McCain is viewed favorably by 58%, Obama by 54%.

I would love to see Sarah Palin as McCain's VP. She would be great!!

I'd be happy with Michael Palin as VP, but he's not eligible.

Nice summary, something is happening out in America, what that is remains new and unclear, McCain, for his dopey campaigning, may be catching his second or third political wind...

Basically, the more people “get to know” Obamao, the less they like him, he has bought tens of millions of dollars on ads only to see his lead evaporate.

Considering all the pundits yapping that this is the dems’ year and the fact that Obama has gotten 100% positive press coverage, he should be leading by at least 20 points. Are people catching on that Hopey Changey is a dangerously inexperienced dope?

As much as Nobama hates to do it, he may have to put billary on the ticket, he has peaked, everone is seeing through the smoke and mirrors and he needs to pull out all the stops already. McCain isn’t even putting up a fight and is still lurching to the lead. Nobama may be putting his health at risk with billary on the ticket but it may be his only way to the black house!! Where the clintons go, so follows a path of lifeless bodies!!

If this scenario were to happen (ala 1948), the pundits and Democrats would be devastated. It would be a huge blow to their egos seeing a virtual predestined victory turn into miserable defeat. One can only dream.

I’m sure he hopes his upcoming few days abroad will “strengthen his foreign policy credentials” as one article said, what garbage, if a few days means anything every tourist would be an expert !

Of course Merkel doesn’t want the Brandenburg Gate turned into an American election rally so now they’re blaming Bush for her lukewarm attitude :)

Time for obambi to hire the beast

That would be signing his own death warrant if elected.

I’m not seeing any national polls with him above 45%. Have you?

I think Obama’s problem is that he peaked too early. Now that everyone is getting a closer look, they aren’t liking what they see, in general, and they are probably tiring of the Messiah thing too.

He did. I t does not help that his speeches are basically a few variations of one tired, hackneyed speech. He is a one hit wonder who had enjoyed far too much airplay.

Yes, the whole cult atmosphere does not do him any favours. His policies are bad enough, but the whole Obama cult bit made things worse for him.

If trends continue, and McCain just keeps on and lets all the stupid stuff be said by Obama...I would say McCain wins pretty handily...even picking off a couple New England states as well as PA and Michigan.
