I don’t think McCain would ask him, but even if he did, I take Fred at his word that he would refuse it, does not want it, and would never do it.

I also like and respect Michael Steele. He is a black man that I could easily vote for.

That’s why I didn’t include him... I initially wanted him to become President so badly... Besides, he’d make McCain look really short...

Fred Dalton Thompson would be my first choice.

Any on your list would be good except Tim Pawlenty. He's drunk the gorebal warming Kool-Aid. I used to have a lot of respect for him, but spending public money on a Chicken Little scheme is no way to deal with a recession.

Any reason why Huckabee isn't on the list? I hear he still wants the job badly.

He could pick ME for VP and I still wouldn’t vote for him. But that said, Palin would be the best choice for him strategically, followed by Steele.

Although I’d hate to have either one of them to have their futures ruined through close association with McCain.

Palin would be my choice.

Many would argue with me, but I also like Romney.

I expect great things from Bobby Jindal, but not quite yet.

Duncan Hunter would be the best.

But Palin might help him get elected more, symbolically.

Palin and Jindal, no. By selecting them you remove one of the strongest attacks you have on Obama - lack of experience. How can you make that case when your running mate has even less?

Sanford, tepid. He's from a state that McCain should carry easily and isn't known much outside it.

Pawlenty, tepid. He brings nothing to the ticket, and won't help carry Minnesota or surrounding states.

Romney, hold my nose and support. He might help in Michigan, Colorado (big Mormon population), Ohio, and Pennsylvania. He can do the attack-dog schtick that a vice-presidential candidate needs to do. He's weak on elective office - one term as governor - but strong on economic policy. Probably the best of the bunch.

Huckabee, Hucka-who?

Then why Palin? She has even less experience.

Hunter. McClintock. Thompson. Jindal. Palin.

In that order.

No. I'm not willing to consider Romney. No, not even a little bit. Same for Huckabee.

Romney.

I also like Pawlenty and Palin. But Palin has a lack of experience which would not be good if McCain points out Obama’s lightweight experience.

Solid support for Romney for all of the reasons you have mentioned. In addition, I factor in his strong family ties and support and the way he has lived his personal life. Also he has the experience to serve this country right now, with the potential of being the Republican nominee for President after McCain. There is another huge plus for Republicans in that Mitt is free of obligations and commitments to other elected positions, i.e. governor, senate, etc. The present governors, Jindal and Palenty, are indispensable to their states which are desperately in need of the strong conservative leadership each provides. I have heard both Jindal and Palenty speak and the are great on delivery and content. They are young and the future should be bright for each of them as regards the Republican party. For now, Mitt Romney is the person we need to be Vice President.

I would support some of them if JUAN steps aside, otherwise......
