Thirty percent (30%) of conservative Democrats say theyre voting for John McCain. Rasmussen Reports data also shows the Republican hopeful picking up support from 19% of White Democrats and 15% of Democrats over the age of 50. These results are from national telephone survey interviews conducted with 14,000 Likely Voters during the two weeks ending July 24. The sample includes 5,074 Democratic voters.
The data shows that 43% of Democrats consider themselves politically liberal, 37% say theyre moderate, and 18% are conservative.
Forty-one percent (41%) of conservative Democrats have a favorable opinion of John McCain. Sixty-seven percent (67%) say the same about Obama.

Compare that to the 17% of all voters, but mostly on the Republican side, that McCain can chase away by selecting Romney as his second - that 6 point swing could be child’s play. This may set records as the lowest voter turnout per population size.
Yup, if it was Hillary then McCain would be toast...I can’t believe the dems are actually stupid enough to run Obama....it’s just amazing.
Starting to wonder if we either have DU plants in here or just people looking to ensure Dethknell 2008.
I hope you people realize tht the Dems are going to kill us in the Senate and House, and yet you want to give them all 3 branches of govt.
Not to mention a SC with 3-4 Bader Ginsbergs.
My mom has been a registered Democrat for over 50 years but won’t vote for Obama. That isn’t saying much since Humphrey in ‘68 was the last time she voted Demo for president! But I think she might have voted for Hillary just because she isn’t impressed by McCain, and she liked the idea of a woman finally.
Conservative democraps will vote for McCain? Both of them?
That would be the inference from the 30% of conservative Democrats.
On the other hand 19% of white Democrats say they’ll vote for McCain. A back of the envelope calculation based on the simplifying assumption that all blacks are Democrats suggests 75% of Democrats are white. That would give just over 14% of Democrats voting for McCain.
The data shows that 43% of Democrats consider themselves politically liberal, 37% say theyre moderate, and 18% are conservative.
Wow!!!! I agree. He can win very very big!
Obama:The more I learn of him, the worse I feel about him, and the more anxious I am for NOvember to come.
While I think this is true we need to realize that many conservative Democrats have been voting Republican for a long time and have just never bothered to change their registration. McCain is up 8 points in WV which is probably 70% registered Democrat if the numbers haven’t changed lately. I do think this bodes well for McCain. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again McCain provided he doesn’t trip and lose his crown is going to a coronation not an election. Obama like Kerry was is a critically flawed candidate. I will predict a couple of things.
1. McCain will see a convention bounce bigger than GW Bush.
2. Democrats will become increasingly disatisfied with Obama.
3. Obama will fail horribly in the debates against McCain and his inexperience and his elitism will be on display where as McCain’s experience and maturity will also be. It will be like a boy cowardly boy debating a general.
McCain’s potential tripping point is his VP pick. He should choose a solid pick that does not offend his base. If he does this he can have a fairly clear path to the White House. If he screws this up he could end up losing just because the youngster Obama is able to produce more energy in his troops. If I were McCain I’d have some surrogates use the phrase “the youngster”. I’ve heard Messiah used in parody but truthfully Obama is “the youngster”.
LOL!!!
oh, that clears it up. all i have to do now is figure out who that is...
These are the same people who, when they didn't get their was as children, would stamp their feet, scream, and threaten to hold their breath until they turned blue. And they are worthy of precisely as much attention.
LLS
Those uncommitteds are going to fall heavily for McCain. It happenned for Bush. McCain just needs keep reminding everyone how scary the policies of Obama really are. A bit of ridicule would be useful too.
was = way
I agree with you, not with all your arguments, but with her as VP pick. She’s the only name tossed around that is remotely exciting.

I agree with you completely. I have always thought that Obama was simply unelectable, and still think that. This is a case where even having the "undyingly liberal media" in the sack for him won't be enough.
Hillary was FAR more dangerous.
Yeah...that worked out well.
