On it. Call your State McCain for President office too. Call your state GOP offices too. Tell them Pro Choice VP=Conservatives staying home in Nov.

So far everyone is assuring me this is nonsense. But we need to stay on it until we have an official announcement of who the VP candidate is going to be. The DC “geniuses” will find away to screw this up unless we stay on them

It matters a lot as even a 1%-2% difference in voter turn-out can swing an election. We all know that many Conservatives are not crazy about McCain and the VP pick will be a make or break decision for many. If someone isn't picked who fire up Conservatives, even a small percent sitting it out could swing it to Obama.

However, if our side is fired up about the ticket, it could be a landslide.

A pro-choice VP would be an extraordinarily BAD idea.

I gather that to mean you think it would get less votes for McCain.

Then why would McCain even flirt with a pro-choice candidate?

Not sure who "everyone" is, but a lot of FReepers seem to be taking this seriously. It may well be nonsense. We don't know. But what's wrong with letting our voices heard? You're right to stay on it as you say.

So if McCain, picks a pro-abortion VP, you will allow Obama to win. Is that it?

IMHO, I doubt McCain would be so stupid and this may be nonsense, but it sure won’t hurt for Conservatives to flex our muscles and remind McCain where the votes and money comes from.

No, but I am only one vote. I will still hold my nose and pull the lever. However, don't doubt for a second that even one to two percent difference in pro-Life conservatives who won't vote won't make a difference. It is time we stop being silent and we once again remind them where their votes and money comes from..

I agree. This may be so much nonsense. But if so, why would NR run such a piece without first fact checking? A little upfront legwork would have saved a lot of grassroots effort.

"Then why would McCain even flirt with a pro-choice candidate?"

I don't know that he is. There are reports all over on both candidates about who they are going to pick.

Let's say for a moment though that McCain IS considering a pro-choicer. What his reasoning would be is totally beyond me. I know we need to stop it before it happens. McCain can flirt with all kinds of VP scenarios as far as I'm concerned but he only has one bullet to fire and if he makes a pro-life decision this controversy and concern will blow away fast.

Just because Artemis Webb believes it would be a bad decision on McCain’s part doesn’t mean McCain understands that. At least that’s how your post reads to me.

As to why McCain would flirt with a pro-choice candidate, you’d have to ask him.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. They want info we need to make it clear a Pro Choice VP is no go. Make them calls people! It really helps campaigns if they hear from someone OTHER then the Establishment Media what you all are thinking.

Right on, Johnnie. If untrue, such action could hopefully prompt McCain to make a disclaimer, cementing his pro-life position.

Yes. We survived President Carter, we can survive Presdient Obama. A Pro Choice GOP is useless to us. It shows there is no principal they will not violate. The McCain's VP pick is the future leader of the GOP. McCain has to get it right.

There have been too many compromises to the Left by the DC GOP leadership all ready. They have to throw the base some bones. Simply screaming "vote for us we aren't them" did not work for the GOP in 2006, it will not work for the GOP in 2008.

A Pro Choice VP pick is a compromise too far.

Did the NR name names and did any of those names publically confirm they received a call? I ask because if not, the NR may be playing you like a fiddle.

I don't think he is. Listening to McCain on his pro-life position, it seems clear he would not pick a pro-choice candidate for VP.

I think this is a non-issue except for the tin-foil wearers.

Yes. We survived President Carter, we can survive Presdient Obama.

Did you actually live through the Carter administration? I did. Have you noticed what has happened to our education system since Carter established the DOE to make the teachers organizations happy. Just image that happening with the health care system in this country.

Yes your choice at the polls has consequences. Another Carter administration must never be allowed.
