“Then, IMO, they are going to have yet another disappointment. from all I have read and heard, Jindal and FEMA are ready for this storm and assisted mandatory evacuations have taken place while the NG is already in NOLA.”

Once they realize the story is about a competent republican executing a well thought out plan they’ll hightail it right out of there.

This time, Bobby Jindal, a grownup, unlike the Democrat former Governor Blanco, will not sit and do nothing, pooh-poohing the storm (until it hit), and then blubbering and complaining for the next month about what BUSH didn’t do that he was supposed to do. Sadly, the liberal nightmare, Mayor Ray Nagin of submerged schoolbus, cut and run to safety, fame, is still “on the job”, but, thankfully, grownups are there to wet nurse this time.

They’re registered as “no party.” It’s not like they’re strutting around calling themselves independents for media attention.

Yeah, ain’t that the truth — The wife calls Biden woman hater Joe, from what he has done in the past.

Neither am I. Doesn’t make me any less conservative or a bad person.

“I just read her hubby and son are not Republicans... discouraging.”

What is is? undeclared? independent?

People would think the same thing about me.

I was registered as right to life until they took it off the ballot in NY.
Since I haven’t filled out paperwork since then I think I am considered undeclared.

You can’t necessarily count this one against them, and politics in Alaska has been so shady on both sides the regular folks probably don’t want to identify with either party.
As a New Yorker I can understand that sentiment.

You can see that McCain shaved 4 points off Obama's bounce.

The long weekend is not over, the convention hasn't even started, and the 'bounce' for NO B.O. is gone.

The MSM is not talking about Denver anymore, but Palin.

The empty suit is on the defensive, and he doesn't have any.
Experience? Palin has more experience as a City Councillor than the 'Community Organizer' has his ENTIRE career. NObama had to pick his 'experience' by picking the Bloviator, Joe Biden.

hopefully they will shield him from scary stuff so he won’t start weeping in front of the cameras.

They aren’t REGISTERED Republicans. There are many people who don’t register for one party or another...including many Conservatives on FR.

You need to tell John Bergstrom at http://www.attackcartoons.com/ (He has a freeperhandle, but I don’t think he checks in very often.)

This election, to me, proves not to get too locked into your own “conventional wisdom”.

I thought McCain was toast in the primaries and Hillary would eventually overwhelm Obama.

I thought Obama getting a lot of media coverage after he sealed up the nomination, all the way through the Dem convention, could hurt McCain by letting Obama define himself, while McCain fiddled around. Instead, the spotlight shrunk and revealed Obama, and McCain got his act together and pulled yet another one out of the fire.

Now the conventional wisdom is that Palin only helps by being a woman, and helping the base. Instead I have decided to think beyond that, and upon listening to her, she may prove to be the best debater and spokesman of the 4. She has a way of explanation, thus far, that could really help in Ohio, PA and MI beyond being a woman. Plus the Ted Nugent type Michigan/Ohio/PA white guy are going to be smitten with her on about 15 levels.

Now to the hurricane, instead of illuminating Katrina and Bush, it may just thrust Bobby Jindal into the national spotlight, and he can effectively make a case for the FUTURE of conservatism and solutions to such problems. Palin and Jindal can do something Bush couldn’t, explain themselves.

In other words, sometimes things work out in ways we don’t expect.

Okay, so, who is this U.S Rep Heather Wilson? From which state? Why does it seem that its the women who have all the cajones in Congress? There’s the freshman rep from Minnesota, and that rep from Virginia or W. Virgina, now Palin, and now this Heather Wilson. Ladies, soldier on for us. It’s why we elected you.

Yeah, hunting, fishing, hockey, beauty, kids, married to and Eskimo. She's going to get the UP Michigan vote for sure. THANK YOU, MR. MCCAIN!
