Palin sounds like she understands the cultural place of human beings in a traditional intimate working relationship with the ecosystem - expressed in practical and knowledgeable conservation principles of management. This contrasts with the views of the author - someone from outside the area with romantic notions of the wild who wants to manage for ecotourism.

They are already acting like red ants when you pour gasoline on their nest...they are even racing to the day care center in their BMW’s, Volvos and hybrids to grab their brats before they can hear the word “conservative”. They are even lining up at Planned Parenthood to give their little girls a chance to have an abortion before they are outlawed, whether they need it or not. They are emptying the grocery shelves of organic foods before the hunters hunt down all the organic sheep and goats and kill them all. They are barricading their windows, so that when the evangelicals march the streets, their children will not have bear the pain of seeing crosses for the first time. They are cowering under their beds wondering why the mainstream press has allowed this outbreak of conservatism to threaten their devotion to Darwinism...
I cannot blame her for firing the guy who would not act on something that she had personal knowledge of. That individual served at the pleasure of the Governor.
As to the other, I agree with her right down the line. Good on her.

Apparently this confused liberal doesn’t understand tht a lot of those tourists go to Alaska to hunt and fish. In fact it is one of their biggest tourist draws! Keep up at the Big Oil stuff and point out for America that her husband is a union member who works for BP! Not too bright I’d say!
