Gov Sarah Palin - just another dirty politician
Barbarians for Sarah Palin (front center)!
The top 11 things you should know about Sarah Palin:
1) She is presently under investigation http://www.ktva.com/ci_10026165 in Alaska for abuse of power http://voices.washingtonpost.com/washingtonpostinvestigations/2008/08/mccains_vp_pick_palin_facing_e.html
2) She strongly supports big oil (her husband works for oil company BP)
3) She believes creationism should be taught in public schools
4) She is opposed to abortion even in cases of rape and incest
5) She has no federal or international experience. Prior to being governor (for less than two years) she was only the mayor of a small Alaskan town and a beauty queen!
6) She believes global warming is a farce and is opposed to listing the polar bear as an endangered species
7) She stands for everything that Hillary Clinton stood against
8) She supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and anywhere else big oil wants
9) She supports Pebble Mine
11) She is pro-war
Sarah Palin is being investigated for abuse of power (7/08) after she fired the Dept. of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Palin pressured Monegan http://community.adn.com/adn/node/127318 to fire her sister's ex husband who is a state trooper. When Commissioner Monegan refused, Palin fired him.
Sarah Palin - worse for the environment than even Bush and McCain
(Anchorage Daily News, September 2007)
Sarah Palin supports development of the Pebble Mine http://video.on.nytimes.com?fr_story=e1fa907ca0fa1f0a6fc9489a3daef4b300a19c52 the largest open pit mine in North America. Pebble mine jeopardizes the entire Bristol bay ecosystem which contains the largest sockeye salmon run in the world. The mine would pollute an unprecedented number or rivers, lakes, and bays. Although Palin claims that the mine would create jobs for Alaskans, it will effectively destroy the commercial and sport fishing industry in Bristol Bay - the main source of income for Alaskans in Bristol bay. Pebble Mine's potential for pollution would make the Exxon Valdez oil spill look like a tiny grease stain. Click here to watch the NY Times video story about the environmental destruction this mine would create. http://video.on.nytimes.com?fr_story=e1fa907ca0fa1f0a6fc9489a3daef4b300a19c52
Sarah Palin sues the federal government over listing polar bears as a threatened species. Why? Because it could restrict the oil industry that fills her pockets. This is the same reason she wants to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil drilling. Read Governor Palin's ignorant op-ed piece here.
and the use of state money to slaughter bears and wolves.
Sarah Palin for Vice-President of the United States?
I'm pretty shocked to hear that John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. I thought that given the fact that she is being investigated for abuse of power http://voices.washingtonpost.com/washingtonpostinvestigations/2008/08/mccains_vp_pick_palin_facing_e.html, that she was out of the running. Obviously McCain is trying to court the women's vote.
Sarah Palin is as bad for women's rights as Bush and McCain combined. She is an ultra conservative politician dedicated to destroying the Alaskan ecosystem in the name of oil exploration and outdated wildlife management policy. Palin has no federal or international experience. Prior to being appointed governor, Palin was the mayor of Wasilla, AK - a town of only 5,469! Her main "experience" before entering public office was holding the title of beauty queen in Wasilla!
Don't be fooled by her young age - Palin works side by side with the oil industry. I'm guessing that's why she was really chosen - since the present administration is clearly controlled and driven by oil money. Palin's policy record reflects someone who consistently destroys the environment, jeopardizes the commercial and sport fishing industry in Alaska, and actively cripples the booming bear viewing business in Alaska.
Sarah Palin's wildlife policies reflect junk science and cripple the eco-tourism industry
I think its obvious from the pictures above how Alaska Governor Sarah Palin feels about wildlife conservation. Like many Alaskans, Palin believes that bears and all Alaskan wildlife, exist for the sole purpose of serving humans. Sarah Palin, and the Alaska Board of Game whose members make decisions about most wildlife, are actively trying to cripple the bear viewing/eco-tourism industry in Alaska. This photograph (left) was published in the Anchorage Daily News amidst great controversy over the hunting of habituated bears around Katmai National Park and the McNeil River Sanctuary. Several weeks before the controversial Katmai Preserve hunt, Palin posed deliberately next to a dead bear to a make a point that she will do everything in her power to make sure bears and other wildlife are mercilessly shot for pleasure in Alaska. Palin supports the aerial hunting of wolves and bears, and even spent $400,000 of state money to fund a media campaign to try and convince Alaskans to support aerial shooting (even though Alaskans have voted against it, twice!). In the past two years, bears habituated to bear viewing have reportedly been shot at bear viewing sites around the state as a statement to bear advocates that Alaska is about shooting animals, not understanding them.
The Alaskan government consistently ignores decades of scientific research that has proven that predators actually keep prey populations healthy. The Alaskan government is wiping out entire populations of predators -using cruel practices such as baiting, trapping, and aerial shooting, in the name of boosting dwindling moose populations. This is just plain ignorant, since biologists have known since the 60s that wolves and bears do not negatively impact prey species such as moose and caribou. Anyone who has taken ecology or biology 101 knows this is established fact. What is threatening moose and other prey species is over hunting by humans, and a large number of yearly road-kill fatalities. The impact of habitat destruction, climate change, and a decrease in predation also contributes.
If you find Sarah Palin as ignorant and offensive as I do, LET HER KNOW. The majority of people who visit Alaska do not support sport hunting and the destruction of wildlife! Most tourists come to Alaska to view wildlife, not to slaughter it. The best hope for Alaskan wildlife is for the tourists who fund the economy to make their wishes known loud and clear that they do not support archaic policies which are destroying the Alaskan ecosystem. Alaska is the last place in the U.S. where humans have not gobbled up and destroyed the natural world. This unique place on the planet needs to be protected, and not allowed to continue to be nothing but a place where animals are trapped, and shot and skinned, and stuffed, and hung on a wall, or used as a rug to wipe your dirty feet. Tell Sarah Palin that the bears on this website are not a rug!
Contact Alaska Governor Sarah Palin http://www.gov.state.ak.us
Tell Governor Sarah Palin that you oppose the slaughter of bears, wolves and other predators. Mention that you oppose the hunting of habituated grizzly bears in the Katmai Preserve. Tell her you support the abolishment of the Board of Game, which is comprised entirely of trophy hunters. These ignorant trophy hunters set most wildlife policies in Alaska.
Even Katmai bears can be hunted! Learn more here. http://www.npca.org/parks/katmai-national-park-and-preserve.html

Jessica Teel is simply so wrong on her second point alone that it brings into question her intellectual honesty on her other issues as well. Simply put, Big Oil hates Sarah Palin. She has been leading the charge against them since the day she was elected. Palin was not, and is not, involved in the ongoing political scandals up here involving an oil industry service company. Those incidents occurred before she was elected. What she did do last year was force through the Legislature the single largest tax increase on the oil industry since statehood (billions of dollars). The oil industry fought it tooth and nail, and she beat them. This year, she again took on big oil (BP, Mobile, Exxon) on the construction of the proposed natural gas line. The Oils wanted their own company to own, operate and control the line. Palin wanted a separate company to run it through Canada to the mid-west. After several bloody legislative sessions, Palin beat them again. Big Oil doesn’t like her a bit and it’s ironic that the real question up here in Alaska is how her husband manages to keep his job with BP, in spite of Governor Palin, not because of her. Jessica Teel apparently knows something about grizzly bears. On that subject, I’ll listen to her.

She believes global warming is a farceMe too. Let your Global Warming, private-jet-flying, limousine-riding, god-boy debate someone who disagrees with him.
Why not? Is he afraid someone will throw a #2 wooden pencil at his house of cards? Hmmmm?

He's an AMERICAN who is GAINFULLY EMPLOYED by an oil company. Actually he quit his job with the oil company when Sarah negotiated a deal with three oil companies for Royalties to be paid to Alaska for drilling on Alaskan land. Conflict of interest don't you know. Although she is strongly for drilling for oil and natural gas on American soil she also believes it should be done without trashing the surrounding countryside, but she isn't a screaming greenie enviro either.

If these accusations are accurate, then she is one wonderful choice for VP, and potentially a wonderful choice for future President.

YANK!!!
I was just thinking about emailing you, you evil bear hunter.
That was one nice photo you sent me.
I have lots to tell you about, will email you tonight.
Dang, and what do you think (do I have to even ask) about that VP from your state? LOL. I mean LOL.
Go ahead, you can tell me how you really feel.
Things have been really good, and I go moose hunting in a couple days!!! The polar bear that cruised by my window was pretty neat.
To answer your question might not get the reply you fully expect.
I think that politically, it was a brilliant move by McCain:
There is a good chance that female Hillary supporters will support her, especially after being burned by the messiah.
She is genuinely 'small town', and will be very well received by those in 'flyover country'. Also, the messiah will continue to slam her as inexperienced as a result of this, further alienating small town folks.
She is the only candidate of all 4 with actual executive experience.
She has more experience than the messiah, and as he paints her as unexperienced, will tie himself in a knot.
Population-wise, Delaware is not much larger than Alaska, and again the rats will tie themselves in knots with their 'logic' and arguments (whining).
What concerns me about Palin is what her administration has done here regarding oil/gas industry taxes in Alaska. They repeatedly changed the tax structure- three times in one year, leaving the AK oil/gas industry with the highest tax rates in the industry. This makes it difficult to do business and decreased our planned work (read: jobs and lower costs).
It is not, in any way, conservative policy nor is it conducive to further exploration, development and lower prices that Republicans are touting. On the other hand, having stood against 'big oil' likely helps her campaign against the Rats lies about her being in our pocket.
Also, as a personal bias, I think it will lead to a lot of unwanted 'attention' here.
I hope things have been going well for you, and look forward to hearing from you both! All in all, if I were in his position (God forbid I ever support policies that he has!!), I would have chosen her. I think it was a smart move, though I don't think that having her on the ticket will lead to the easy victory that lots of people here do.

Good point.
check Palin made possible
Sarah Palin did not make the permanent fund possible. Former Governor Jay Hammond created that initiative and pushed it through a viscious state legislature in 1976.
with revenue generated from those nasty oil companies.
Again, good point!

Jessica Teel apparently knows something about grizzly bears.
She knows as much about bears as I know about single-handedly launching a manned space shuttle into orbit.

This is garbage. Predator control has always been an effective means to boost animal populations, and predators such as wolves and bears kill far more moose than huters do. Furthermore, Alaska's constitution outlines that game is to be managed to benefit the people living here.
The majority of people who visit Alaska do not support sport hunting and the destruction of wildlife!
There is the problem. Tourists should not govern us.

He is a plant operator at a facility that separates and processes crude oil, natural gas and water. That salary figure is most likely very low.

Wishing you luck on the moose hunt, Yank. Ya gotta fill that freezer for winter.
I think you’re right in saying she’s a good political pick and I prefer her values in the office over anyone the dems could come up with, especially Biden.
Thanks for your insight on her dealings with the oil companies, with all the excitement I haven’t seen anything on that yet. I’d bet there’ll much more to come on it when things calm down a little.
With everything else that’s been going on things have sorta quieted with crazy Hugo but I’m sure he’ll be back in the news before long, he craves that attention. I think the FARC thing slowed him down a little a while back. Would imagine one of his countrymen have a bullet with his name on it and is just biding his time to deliver it.
