Minnesota Poll: Obama, McCain are dead even in state

By BOB VON STERNBERG, Star Tribune

September 13, 2008

Minnesota has become a battleground in a presidential campaign that has dramatically tightened nationwide.

A new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows that the race is now a dead heat between Barack Obama and John McCain, each supported by 45 percent of likely voters in the state.

The new poll likely will stoke both sides' efforts during the final 51 days until the election, triggering a barrage of advertising, grass-roots politicking and, potentially, stepped-up visits by the candidates.

The poll found that McCain has made gains across the board since a May Minnesota Poll that showed him trailing by 13 points. He has picked up considerable support among men and to a lesser degree among women. He also has boosted his standing with whites, young voters and all levels of household income and education.

Massachusetts? McCain would have a better chance in Venezuela. Actually, this is probably true if the voters down there could vote.

Several of my close friends here in Minnesota, have been traditional Democrats all their lives. (Can’t figure it out, because they are strong social conservatives.) But, they will vote for McCain/Palin this election for the first time and know many others like them. They also can’t stand Franken-stein.

Wisconsin and Michigan will also see changes. Many here have never voted, because they are just not interested or involved in politics. They are socially conservative and somewhat ignorant about what goes on in the outside world, but they are voting this election for the first time because they can’t stand the record tax increases the Democrats have passed since they took the majority in 2006.

This may truly be a shake-up like the MSM has never seen before. Gawd I hope so!

“Wisconsin may actually be the voter fraud capital of the Western Hemisphere.”

I looked at the 2004 map the other day- Mke and dane counties deep blue. Is dane where madison is located?

I’ll bet Wisconsin is in pay too.

Only problem is the Chicago thugs bringing vote fraud to Milwakee and Madison.

I beleive Bush actually won Wisconsin both times sans vote fraud.

**** Geez, I wish this was about Illinois instead! ****

better sit down, Obama is only up by 3 in IL (per a new poll). Go to the IL Board for the link.

Barry's getting set up for a landslide loss.

Yep. 11,841 votes is pretty darn close!

And we have a ‘Rat Governor who is going to make sure EVERY vote counts...from homeless drifters with no known address...from dead people...from those currently incarcerated...from illegal alien MS13 gang bangers, and if you’re a Registered ‘Rat yourself, your vote gets counted TWICE. ;)

A new Star & sickle Minnesota Poll shows that the race is now a dead heat between Barack Obama and John McCain,...

This being the case, it's going to be a landslide for McCain if these numbers continue.

Add 10 points for the conservative via the Star and Sickle bias correction factor.

‘ll never forget (I was young, naive and very disheartened) when the last Gallup poll before the 1980 election showed Jimmy Carter had, at long last, “caught” Ronald Reagan.

And it wasn’t even close.

___

Remember what he said there, because this one isn’t going to be close either.

Let’s also not forget how the MEDIA tried to give Kerry the election in 2004 by saying the exit polls showed a KERRY LANDSLIDE.

Why are so many nice mid western states so left leaning??

Agriculture. When your livelihood is at the mercy of forces beyond your control, like the weather, you welcome collective security and govenment backup. The result is a bunch of people who see themselves as cultural conservatives but are in fact economic leftists.

The same state that just voted in Al Franken

The party nominated Al Franken. The state will elect Coleman in November.

“I live near the twin cities, and I was considering logging a protest vote against McCain, seeming as how my votes never count toward the electoral total. I still don’t think McCain will carry the state, but perhaps I should reconsider.”

PERHAPS!?!?!

The Dems are putting a real joker Franken for Senate in MN and Obama is the worst and most leftwing nominee ever.

Consider that there is someone like you is in every precinct. The polls are still close. You could wake up and find Obama is our next President.

Joke’s on them. Ethanol subsidies go to giant agri-businesses and welfare goes to the inner-city and suburbs. Ha, ha!
