The following is a photo essay on Sarah Palin's first "solo" campaign rally held at the Pony Express Pavillion, Carson City, Nevada.
The beautiful Carson Valley as seen from Spooner Pass.
The waiting line snaked through the adjoining park.
Local politicians worked the waiting crowd. My wait in line was just under two hours.
This woman made her own shirt and gave one to Palin as a gift.
People brought many great tributes. This man told me his wife drew the picture and, "she is a schoolteacher."
There were a lot of great signs!
You will go through a bag search and a metal detector.
The crowd enters the Pony Express Pavillion.
An eager crowd awaits the governor's arrival. We were entertained by a very good country-western band called Silverwing. I think every politician on the Republican ticket in Nevada made a short address to the crowd, but the time flew by!
It was my dumb luck (and maybe an early arrival) to end up so near the entrance.
Someone in the bleachers signals "She's here" and the crowd goes into a frenzy.
Sarah and Todd Palin emerge from the entrance.
Todd Palin looks like he is having the time of his life. Hard to imagine, but both he and Sarah are better looking than their photos.
Todd and Sarah take the stage.
The crowd is completely enthralled.
Sarah's tribute to Blue Star Mothers in attendance brings cheers of "USA, USA!"
Cheers go up from the crowd on several occasions creating a blue blur of signs.
Sarah reminds us that we must move the polls above the margin of error numbers and take responsibility to get out the vote in November. "We only have 57 days."
The crowd erupts into another frenzy as Sarah leaves the stage.
I can only hold my camera above my head and hope for the best.
Word spreads that Sarah is working the crowd.
Amid competing cameras I got a few good shots of Todd Palin.
Todd is a natural with the crowd. That's Sarah in the back returning an autographed hat.
Todd Palin signing autographs. That stern-looking woman next to him never left his side.
Exterior of the Pony Express Pavillion after the event.
I bought this very cool campaign button and came away with the memories of a lifetime!
News on the local radio after the event said the sheriff's office estimated the crowd at 10,000.
great pics!
Great pics - thanks!!
Thank you for posting those terrific pics. It really made my day. It must have been something to see when Sarah came into view.
Thanks for the pics and the comments.
Thank you!
(Now, about all those “Todd-right-in-the-middle-of-the-photograph” pictures.........)

Scouts and Blue Star Mothers - two of the groups that make America, America.
Awsome - Thanks! I doubt they’ll come to Alabama at all because we’re always in the Republican column. But it would be nice, just the same.

Wow...great campaign stop! The pics clearly show she’s energized our party!
Thanks for the post.
Thanks.
Denali and Driller rock Carson City!!
That's one day for each state!
Yeah, keep 'em coming!! LOL.
You said the couple is better looking than their pictures.
I thought it was interesting that her hairdresser said they had come up with this up-do on her hair to try to make her less sexy or less beautiful. (Better luck next time, I guess.)
Well...they don't call him "First Dude" for nothing!
As they exited the arena, Sarah worked one side and Todd worked the other. Everyone was happy!
Thanks for sharing the photos - you can feel the excitement come right through the images.
