Just based on years of watching his focus groups: they always are to the left of the actual final electorate, at least in terms of the vote. He had Bush losing, as I recall, had Cheney losing, and so on. When he first started, I think in the late 1990s, it was a pretty good sample, but my impression is that his groups have drifted leftward every since.

I just read another thread about this issue and suddenly feel a little better. The theory as to why McCain refuses to take this red meat issue and not bury the dems with it is a timing issue.

Once the House votes on the ‘rescue’/Bailout, he will use it then, but doesn't want to blow things up with the dems and get blamed for its failure to pass and illtimed partisianship until then. I swear, I hope that's it and it does make sense. It will be the sweetest of October surprises when he buries the dems with this issue and puts a final nail in their coffins.

Then don't friggin read them.

As of today he has still lost the election. I don't see him with a commanding lead in VA or CO. But his chances this morning are light years better than they were a week ago, and if he'll just SHUT UP about "Wall Street Greed" and name names, he could win this tomorrow.

BTW, the most I ever give him is about 274-280 EVs. I don't think he'll win PA, I know he won't win MI, I don't think he'll win MN. It's all about CO and VA. And I've said this for two months.

Good, man. Been busy promoting the new book, so I haven’t been involved in any campaigning. Honestly, Ken Blackwell’s defeat took a lot out of me.

See my #42 post - I’m hoping that’s the reason.

You could say "it's a shame it took Newt Gingrich" to re-energize the House Republicans when Bob Michel just played footsie with the Dems for 20 years.

McCain is who he is, and I never had any expectations out of him---so he surprised me by picking Palin.

I don’t know. She did okay with it, given the circumstances. I don’t believe that’s what she really thinks, but at least it was to the right of what McCain things. She obviously wasn’t comfortable with it.

Moments from last night.

Palin to Biden..."There ya' go again pointing backward," she said at one point. "Now doggone it, let's look ahead."

Dick Morris slap down of Alan Coulmes.
Morris smacks Colmes

O'Reilly calling out Barney Frank on Fannie and Freddy.
O'Reilly goes off on Barney Frank.

The hands going up for Palin in Luntz's focus group.

She spoke for 'everyman' and looked Presidential.

I also noticed how many were Palin supporters over McCain.

The campaign would be more energized if it could be a 2-year governor with 10 years of mayoral experience going against a 2-year senator.

Is there another venue coming just before the election that will cause Palin to re-energize the McCain campaign?

McCain NEEDS Palin to pull him across the finish line. He can't do it on his own. [Proof? Watch the interview of McCain on Fox&Friends yesterday. McCain's performance was very poor.]

When Luntz showed up I said ‘he always has a Left-leaning group pretending to be uncommitted’. What a surprise! I knew Palin was a STAR and the Luntz group did, too!

Maybe, McCain should buy a couple of hours of evening TV time on all networks a couple of days before the election -- and turn them over to Palin.

GREAT SUGGESTION!

My wife said Snuffulupagus on ABC was saying Biden won.

The propaganda arm of the DNC must be defeated or equalled. That should be the #1 objective of a new, resurgent Republican Party.

The Lamestream is going to spin this as fast as they can for Biden. They can't believe they got so sandbagged by Palin.

Watch as they deflect any reporting favorable to Palin, and concentrate more on the bailout in the House, instead.

What will be gratifying is how they will wail and gnash their teeth on Nov 5th wondering how they could possibly have lost.

RE :”I’m beginning to get very suspicious “

You could be on to something, like he doesnt want his past brought up. In any case his position on this and the bailout bill is a loser. He didnt even show up for the Senate Debate on it, as Obama did and attacked republicans. McCains NOW says he’s not even a republican instead a reformer and both sides are to blame. I am losing ‘any’ interest in him winning and I didnt like him to begin with. He is willing to lose republican seats to get elected. Thanks MCain supporters, kill the party, kill conservatism.

Why Republicans supporting democrat’s investor bailout bill is political suicide link:

Not sure about that “prediction” aspect. I’m more focused on his breakdown of how voters respond to the candidates’ words...which I find to be spot on.

I also find it interesting that the lefties hate him because they think he is a conservative shill.

I thought Luntz got very upset with the outcome. He seemed to be incredulous that she did so well.

I have no idea why Fox has made this squishy hack their communications-style expert when there are so many competent experts. Most of the time, he reminds me of one of those PTA group facilitators who uses the focus-group format as pretense. Manipulate group-think to arrive at pre-determined outcome.

The Nobama campagin sent out a message to tell bamabots to watch the McCain/Nobama debate on CNN. Did they also send one out for the Palin/Biden debate? If not, it was probably just assumed. The ‘bots know who their teammates are.
