Obama made clear that he was a strong supporter of the draft at the ServiceNation Presidential Forum at Columbia University on Sept. 11, 2008 and I don't know why the MSM or the McCain campaign let that one slip right by. Obama on the draft speaking at Columbia:

The Obama campaign is playing down Biden's "gaffe" by saying that international crisis is common when a new president takes office. . . The point that Biden was making was not that Obama will be tested but rather some very specific decisions that Obama was going to make that would be unpopular with Americans regarding the crisis. . . He explains that it will be a decision that people will claim not to have known that he'd make. . . Although Obama said he favors the draft at the forum, it's never been in the MSM and the vast majority of people have no idea. A lot of his support is coming from people and groups who believe that Obama wants to keep us out of war and conscription contradicts that. . .

I don’t see that at all. Something along the lines of martial law maybe, but I don’t see the draft anywhere in that guy’s statement.
Obama will basically state that Israel is on her own, inviting the Muslims to attack her. He thinks the average liberal dolt is against Israel and therefore he has such support.

There is no way on God’s green earth that Obama would propose a military draft. It’s well known that military personnel are almost entirely Republican as a result of their challenges and their experience. Defending the country is job #1 - that doesn’t square with the lib philosophy.

I’m completely for the draft. If we had a draft, we probably wouldn’t be in this stupid war, and I completely agree with Pat Buchanan on the war. It was a horrible blunder.
Folks on that Hillary forum are supporting McCain. They hate Obama because of his thug tactics against their gal in the primaries.
I spend most of my work day on college campuses. It is hard to get these kids to get excited about anything except $1 shots on Thursday night. Why would you want to get them all excited—especially when you consider them part of your base?
It just doesn’t make any sense. Although, I would love to see him try.

I think the Hillary folks know how to play hardball politics better than Repubs. They start a rumor about the draft and Obama, then let it spread. Dems have been doing this aqainst Repubs for ever.
