FoxNews/Opinion Dynamics: Zero - 47%, hero - 44%
FoxNews ^ | 10/30/08

As the candidates make their closing arguments before the election, the race has tightened with Barack Obama now leading John McCain by 47 percent to 44 percent among likely voters, according to a FOX News poll released Thursday. Last week Obama led by 49-40 percent among likely voters.

Obama has a bit more strength of support going into the final week. Among his backers, 88 percent say they support him "strongly" and 12 percent "only somewhat." For McCain, 78 percent of his voters support him "strongly" and 22 percent "only somewhat."

In addition, 66 percent of Obama's supporters say it is "extremely important" to them that their candidate wins compared to 59 percent of McCain supporters.

The race has tightened in part because of changes in a couple of important swing voting groups. Independents back Obama by 5 percentage points today, down from a 9-point edge last week. Similarly, among white Catholics, Obama held an 11-point edge over McCain last week and today they split 46-46.

I have already made a side bet with two friends that PA, Florida and Virginia are at least +3 for McCain and growing. I buy no poll that favors Obama. These polls have been absolute b.s. to add to the pile of b.s. being shoveled daily through the MSM. Obamatrash is busing in support to his rallies while Palin just has to arrive in town and the support comes out in droves. I have relatives in P.A. and Ohio who have convinced me the media has squarely hidden the truth. If Acorn has been dispatched to a state it means the Dems know they are in deep doody.

I also want to add a side complaint as a long standing Californian. I AM SO SICK of southern cali carrying our electoral vote. You hit north of Sacramento and it's deep McCain/Palin GOP support. I'd give anything to evenly divide that electorate number to be fair and balanced. My vote counts locally and at the state level but with the presidential election it's basically canceled out in actually electing the president. California may stupidly hand over it's electoral to that puss bag Obamatrash but I promise not every californian voted for him. There got that off my chest.

Wow. Can the undecideds be that high at this point?? That is remarkable. That would mean that the race is still wide open!

This may be a troll alert on the IBD/TIPP poll, as that sure doesn’t appear to exist. And their poll doesn’t come out until about 3:00 usually as I understand it.

I have to apologize. I went to their Web site as a result of a Google search and saw the Thursday posting, but failed to notice it was dated last Thursday. I am terribly sorry.

One other reason why this poll is important IMO is that Fox News, who have been rather annoying this election, may actually not go too far off the deep end with their talk of the latest polls if their own latest has it this close. And in an election where turnout is the key this can help.

No problem, as you can see many of us are a little on edge with such a serious threat of takeover by a Marxist at hand.

Right on schedule ... just as predicted ...

The Holy Pollers need to stay in the news in order to create a demand for their product. The presstitutes (who pay the bills and spread the product) want to see Barry in the lead. The pollsters need to keep a little bit of credibility so people will buy their services in the next election. Put this all together and you get the usual week-before-the-election results:

If the Rat wins: We were right all along!

If the Pubbie wins: We picked the trend; the last minute break of independents which nobody could call gave the final outcome.

In other words, at this stage, the Holy Pollers don't have a clue regarding the actual vote. They're merely hedging their bets.

Yes, but this part also makes you take a major second glance too. How on earth does Obama win win this kind of number? I recall Rove a week or so ago saying that this type of experience question was registering the lowest for Obama for a major party candidate since Dukakis or something to that effect. He basically said it was possible area of concern for him.

Almost all voters -- 78 percent -- think McCain has the right experience to be president. That includes a 64 percent majority of Democrats. Significantly fewer voters -- 49 percent -- think Obama has the right experience for the Oval Office (48 percent say he doesn't).

Boy, Obadiah, you are ruthless. Let's give the poor old guy a break, considering his military service. I respectfully request that you reconsider his punishment.

Do we really buy that the undecided is that high? I call those the ones who are afraid to admit they aren't voting like sheep for Obamatrash because the media has told them it's over. They know they are voting McCain but also probably figure their vote in a poll won't be counted or they will be told to eff off. OR.. and this is my true belief. That 11% is all McCain and they already know it but they are suppressing that result and shoved into the undecided category when the person said “most likely” will vote McCain. I swear to God my gut tells me that Friday that Sarah Palin was introduced as the “potential” Vice President Nominee this election was over and it has remained that way and they've all known. I don't care how they've twisted these numbers. I believe the Palin factor just ruined every thing for the left on that day and every number we are seeing in support of the Dems was manufactured the eve of the now defunct Obamatrash acceptance gush speech that McCain so brilliantly and I do mean brilliantly destroyed the following morning when he introduced Palin to the world. The GOP came alive that morning.

My hubby got one and only one call related to voting and the second he said he was strongly supporting McCain ( he's a registered Dem that hasn't voted Dem since Clintons first four) they hung up on him and we've gotten no presidential poll calls since. Just a lot of Prop 8 calls and door to door comments. Please not only pray for our country during this presidential election but pray for the state of California in regard to this prop 8 issue. My older brother is gay and I love him tons but I just can't allow the definition of Marriage to include those of the same sex. It's a personal issue in our family but as I have learned to respect my brothers choices he must respect mine as well.
