I'm standing in line (in the rain) in Richmond, Virginia. Where are you?
Just finished the line of about 45 minute wait with my first time voter son in Oklahoam. Never have I seen such a long line and McCain has this state by over 20%....if this has any indication of the absolute determination of the Christian Conservative/Republican push...I would say we are in for a very good night! Most in line talking all agreed this was the most important election they have ever been determined to cast their ballot!! Go McCAin.....
Alas, I'm in the rat infested dung heap that is under the thumb of Suckramento. Believe it or not, California is two states in one. :)
Voted by absentee ballot two weeks ago, but here is a mini field report from lets just say a very deep-blue state in the East.
At 10:00 am this morning, my own neighborhood polling place, located in a very large urban area with large minority population had no line. I don’t mean a little line. No line at all. It serves a very dense urban population, so that was a bit surprising to see after all the election hype.
At 10:30 am my commuter bus rolled by the polling location on the campus of a very large university (30,000 students). The line contained I would estimate about 70 ~ 100 students.
Isn't that funny... I guess you know you're someone when you have enemies advertizing your name. :) I wish we knew if there was an Opus involved.
I was wondering about that too. Usually there’s just a short line where I vote. In and out in 30 minutes and no one has to wait in the rain.
I live in Olathe, KS (suburban Kansas City).
Got to my polling place right before it opened at 6:00am, and the line was already out the door. Waited in line for an hour before getting to vote.
Maine Twp. Precinct 4 - NW Suburban Cook, IL
Spouse and I arrived at the polls seven minutes before they opened ... we were voters number 24 and 25. Normally we would have been right at the front at that time. There was quite a long line (didnt try to count) across the school gym floor and down the hall to the building entrance when we left.
There were a surprising number of young people ... not so good for our side, IMO.
Why did you say your vote won’t count?
My wife voted in the Fan in Richmond this morning, said there was no wait.
This is a good sign. Fan is very socialist. Voted overwhelmingly for Kerry. Would vote for Hugo Chaves is Dems nominated him. Would vote for Michael Jackson if Dems nominated him.
I will vote at 2pm and will report back then as I am in Deltaville now.
Went to the polling place this morning...same crowd as usual. At 8:25 there were only 15-20 ppl in front of me. Voted in 20 mins.
When I say same crowd, I mean literally, the same neighbors/etc I always see there.
No idea on who’s voting what, though.
I just got home from voting. The line was MINIMAL, basically non-existent. We got there about 10 min after the poll opened. There were 5 people in line in front of us and about 10 people who were already at the voting machine.
QUICK, SMOOTH, EASY. They gave me the I Voted Electronically sticker and told me that I can get a free cup of coffee at Starbucks. COOLIO!
I also asked them to let me keep a blank Voter Passport for my scrapbook. I know it’s silly, but I have a LOT of pics from this past election season and I plan on putting them all into one scrapbook. My dh took a pic of me outside of the polling place after I voted.
I wore blue jeans, red shoes, a red hat, my WE WILL NOT SURRENDER TO TERRORISTS t-shirt and a red zip-up jacket. There weren’t many people outside the polling place to “influence” so it didn’t really matter. BUT...it made me feel good and that’s all that matters. Now it’s time to get some sleep! LOL
I am in just north of Indianapolis. This area is very GOP. I went at 9am to avoid the early morning rush. It was VERY BUSY. I was there for almost 1-1/2 hours! This is a big turnout which typcially favors the GOP. McCain and Mitch Daniels (Gov.) will win Indiana.
One thing I read on FR last night was a request to where red at the polling boths. I did not but I noticed more red than most other colors. Mind you, that Indiana University’s colors are Cream and Crimson. However, these clothing items were not IU apparel.
Get out and Vote! We will be Victorious!!!
We were thinking (hoping) the same thing!
Just voted in Ga extreme extreme northern atl burbs.
i was #303.
i waited about 30 mins.
lines were populated with 1/3 blue hairs, 1/3 working folks dressed professionally, 1/3 moms with kids.
there were zero immigrants/minorities - i mention b/c there is a significant hispanic population and a somewhat smaller vietnamese population in the district. Everyone in line was not in either of those groups.
turnout was moderately heavy.
pull it out out MacPal.
Me too, but I don’t know. I don’t have a lot of faith in the average American anymore.
Just voted at the Smyrna, GA community center.
Several dozen people in line just before lunch time. But took only about 20 minutes.
Very well organized, fast moving line as usual, and about a dozen machines.
Been voting there for 8 years now and they have their act together.
Just got back from giving some folks a ride to vote, it was unbelievable. The elementary school in southern Indiana was packed. Directly outside the entrance they had full size cardboard cutouts of Obama and JFK standing together. I asked the nitwits who were sitting by the door if I had come to the right place, was this a voting center or an obama headquarters? They said this is where you vote and to go on in.
North Ga. report.
waited less than an hour - all white voters - i have previously reported but i neglected to mention...
my spot is checking picture ID well. lady behind me had a middle initial and the worker grilled her. she ended up using two more forms of ID :)
