He was my first preference for the GOP nominee in 2008 and Palin was my first choice as VP. In retrospect, Sanford was smart to sit out ‘08. He’s our best hope in 2012-should knock NC, VA, and FL back where they belong. We’ll pick up a few EVs with the redistricting in 2010 (Blue states are losing 7-10 EVs to traditionally Red States). 2010 will be ‘94 all over again.

I think it's great news too!

I became interested in this guy when he addressed the SC State Legislature with a suckling pig under each arm.

He allegedly said "I think it's high time you met your daddies!"

It would be a great thing. I like Sanford a lot and could easily support him.

Mark (and his brother Bill) were my fraternity brothers at Furman Univeristy.

He's a great guy and the REAL DEAL!

It would be. Sanford/Jindal has to be our 2012 ticket

These would be 2 guys who can not only win, but both are smart, sincere and could clean up the huge mess Obama will leave us

My first introduction to Sanford was this week when he was interviewed by CNN at the Governor’s conference. He seemed insecure and defensive when it came to answering questions about Palin. I was surprised. Both Jindal and Sanford came across self-serving, self-conscious and not a team player.

It bothered me that the attention Palin was receiving bothered them. If Sanford is sincere then great. I will give him another look. Jindal has potential but he is weak on the experience side right now.

I would like to see the Republican Governors really work together and apply pressure on Congress and the Administration over the next four years. We need all the Conservative help we can get to save our country from economic peril.

The only way these Governors will succeed is if this group of 20-21 Governors band together and becomes a TEAM. They could make a difference if they put aside their own individual goals.

There are over 50 million Americans who voted for McCain and we are all looking for Conservative leadership to steer us out of this economic mess. I don’t think Congress or BHO is capable. If Sanford, Pawlenty, Jindal, Barbour, or Palin,..etc. decide to work individually they will hold little power to make any difference in influencing Congress.

I hope we can depend on these Governors to re-engage and work as “one” to fight the incompetence in Congress.

I’m looking for the candidate who can give a bold, clear, forthright defense of conservative principles. The candidate who can’t do that will join Dole and McCain on the PGA celebrity tour.

I remember Mark Sanford’s name being mentioned some time ago as a possible running mate for McCain, but in the final days before the Palin announcement was made, I never saw him included in the speculation about who would be tapped, and I don’t know why that was—was McCain known not to favor him?

Sanford/Palin or Jidal could be the ticket...I especially like the outside the beltway and “citizen-legislator” flavor of this type of Conservative GOP. Sanford is not hungry for political power and will need to be pulled into a run for the Presidency...much like Reagan.
