A gun is worth 1,000 pictures
WorldNetDaily ^ | December 01, 2008 | Doug Powers

The quote from Sebastian D'Souza, the photographer and picture editor for the Mumbai Mirror who snapped a photo seen around the world of one of the terrorists in India last week, said it all: "I only wish I had a gun, not a camera."

One can only imagine that a photojournalist saying he wished he had a gun instead of a camera makes the sphincters of many "journalists" and other assorted forever-neutral members of the Fifth Estate slam closed faster than the shutter on D'Souza's camera, but an important point is made: Unless we as citizens are able to defend ourselves on a massive yet individual basis, we will never be able to stop a massive attack by crazed individuals. Waiting for police or the Army to show up with mops and buckets is an unacceptable strategy in fighting terrorists.

One thing is certain: Mass terrorist slaughters like the one in Mumbai could happen in the United States. That something similar and on such a grand scale hasn't happened yet isn't for lack of trying on the part of terrorists. As many mass shootings in the U.S. have demonstrated to us (and unfortunately to terrorists as well), our citizens are horrendously unprepared and untrained for a terrorist attack like the one in India last week. And by "trained," I mean more than just to dial 9-1-1 and eke out a prayer before being shot.

But what steps will the U.S. government take to ensure the safety of the general population in coming days in light of recent events? Probably to somehow regulate "Black Friday" to see to it that nobody else gets trampled to death at Wal-Mart.

The measures that need to be taken to prevent a Mumbai-style terrorist attack in the United States will not be taken at the...

What a difference from the American news media, who think no one should be armed.

I don't think police in Great Britain routinely carry firearms to this day. I bet if you had asked this exact same photographer on Tuesday if he thought police should be armed he would have said, "No, of course not!".

My take: Another liberal mugged by reality.

“I only wish I had a gun, not a camera.”

What’s that old, old saying? “A conservative is a liberal who’s been mugged...”

Ask and you will receive.

EXTREME SHOCK USA Air Freedom Ammunition
Extreme Shock 45 ACP 125 Grain Tungsten Nytrilium Air Freedom Round
This remarkable round is a terrorists worst nightmare. Unlike rounds made of polymers that can generate lethal ricochet, the extreme shock afr round will turn to harmless powder if it misses its intended target and hits a hard surface. It is the only round in the world with this level of performance and safety. This is also possibly the world's safest home defense round, as in most circumstances, it will fragment in standard 1 half inch sheet rock wallboard.

Wish Ruger would make a standard Redhawk in .454, even if it had to be a 5 shot.

(It IS Christmas season after all...)

All very well and good, but how many of us practice what we preach by refusing to patronize businesses that bar concealed carry on their premises and canceling subscriptions to anti-american papers such as the NYT or continuing to use the MSM evening news as a source of “information.”

I rarely run into a business that bars concealed carry on their own, but here in SC, state law forbids the carry of a firearm into a business that has a license to sell alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption. That counts out just about every decent eating establishment in the state... and some that aren't so decent. Heck, I can't even go into a Pizza Hut, because they serve beer.

My wife is getting tired of going to I-HOP and McDonald's when we go out, but I rarely break my rule of refusing to go anywhere that the thugs know that a law abiding citizen will be defenseless.

I wonder if the state assumes total responsibility for the safety of my family and me when I am in a place that they refuse to allow me the means to defend myself?

I know.... dumb question.

Picked up my 50GI “glock” slide around 1600L today. 600$ + tax poorer .......took it home , pulled the slide off my glock 21 and replaced it with the GI Slide. Easy , perfect fit and dry fired a few times.

Magazines are the 9 rounders. So 9+1 in the chamber capacity. Disassembled the entire slide and degreased, inspected, basically a glock in every detail, only for launching a bigger pumpkin ! Personal recipe of krytox and militec applied wiped down and then added to key wear surfaces. Not sure who applied the finish on the slide or what it is but flat silver grey finish that resembles the tenifer texture. Bold letters down left hand side of the slide “GUNCRAFTERS INDUSTRIES”........Barrel is marked with caliber as are all glock barrels and says “50 GI”......

Here are most accurate pic’s at some links.

http://talks.guns.ru/forums/icons/forum_pictures/001167/1167147.jpg

http://www.ammo-one.com/1-50GI.jpg

.... Only thing I note “different” aside from larger bore is that this pig is heavy. Lot heavier than the Glock 21 or Glock 20 fully loaded. Magazine base uses an allen head screw for retention. Markings say “SUPER2” with “10MM/.45ACP” on base extension. Back of magazine is marked “50 GI” and “Made in USA” full length of mag has the words “guncrafters industries” and the mag appears to be a Glock 21 design as it has same 11 holes as my mags for the 45 auto version.

I have a supply of 300gr Ball and 275gr JHP’s and will hit the range in a few days and let ya know how it performs.

Stay safe....

It looks nice. And just as I went in the opposite direction, and got the little bitty Walther PPS in the anemic 9mm. That was as small as I wanted to go with a package that doesn't give me much of an excuse to leave it at home.

As far as the poster boy's picture upstream, he looks totally occupied with dumping his backpack, and does not yet have a mag in his weapon. He should have been low-hanging fruit for anybody with a functional weapon.

I've heard stories that the "armed" cops lacked ammo for their revolvers and SMLEs. One report called them "100 year old rifles". Probably new-manufacture Indian rifles in 7.62mm NATO. Not too shabby, and no reason to hide behind the civilians you're paid to protect.

In socialist countries, the cops are permitted weapons denied to the masses, with the idea that they are equipped and trained to stick their necks out to protect the sheeple, who are important sources of revenue to the state. Dead men can still vote, but they won't be paying any taxes.

I assume the BGs were eventually killed by the elite military. I doubt a single cop let off even one round in the whole three days. But at least they know that not only are their worthless hides still safe, but so are their jobs and pensions.

India needs something like the 9-11 commission here to dump the blame on a scapegoat, and whitewash their own roles. Then they would be ready for another raise, and maybe even an armed driver for their government cars.

That poster boys weapon IS loaded. Tape on mags is white and caught in reflection of light on the floor behind him. Look close and at other pics. He had mags taped “jungle clip” mode with white tape.
