Obama: Gun owners do not need to stock up
Chicago Sun Times ^ | December 7, 2008 | ABDON M. PALLASCH

Posted on 12/07/2008 7:27:30 PM PST by An Old Man

As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month.

...

But National Rifle Association spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said it's not Obama's words — but his legislative track record — that has gun-buyers flocking to the stores.

...

"Anyone who thinks they need to rush out and buy a firearm clearly has not been paying attention to how quickly we make progress on this issue. We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."

That's a very good analogy.

Why does Obamba refer to himself as we?

The era of change is arriving. Change will come so fast and often you will get dizzy trying to follow. In particular any statement or promise made during the campaign is in the same receptacle with New Years Resolutions.

I have the same question regarding the Koran. The book's directives are mostly in first person plural, but Muhammet claimed that they are the direct words of Allah, and that there is no God but Allah.

So, my unanswered question is why the first person plural? If it contains Allah's words, the book should be in first person singular. If there is only one God, first person singular goes again.

I think those who deem themselves more worthy than the general population have a tendency to speak in the plural voice because they think everyone should think the same way that they do.

“Obama’s comment’s about a national police force sent chills down my spine.”

Exactly my reaction. Socialists and Communists have used this for only one purpose in countries where it has been established.

There is a good reason that this type of thing was feared by the framers.

“Just a note, if the left can ignore the US Constitutution can’t patriots also ignore it and refuse to pay taxes because we think it is outdated and old and silly?”

A general revolt is provided for in the Constitution. The Declaration if Independence is codified law.

How about lead? I found some lead bullion on EBAY, and I’m buying small amounts of it. It says on one ad that a lot of things can be made with it, like ammunition. ;)

Not too expensive either! I know it’s not in the proper form. But it can be made in the right form, can’t it? People who saw “The Patriot” remember what B.Martin managed to do with his dead boy’s toy soldiers, do they? ;)
Exactly!

So this would mean that an armed insurrection is not against the law?

Peter Hamm, spokesman for the Brady Campaign against Gun Violence: We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more.

I am sick to death of liberals who think it's their place to decide what's "enough" of anything for me.

DO NOT remove the choke. Yes there is a reason for doing so, but the same can be had by replacing the choke that's in there with a "Cylinder", which is what it might be to begin with. Essentially a NO CHOKE.

Chokes tubes are marked on the side, with what they are. "Cyl", "Imp Cyl", "Mod", "Full" etc.

Just don't shoot it with out a tube screwed in. You'll damage the threads.

Yes, lead is way down. And you can ship 50-70 pounds priority flat rate for less than $10.

You can get 50# for $50 including shipping.

Actually, I have a rifled choke tube in my 20” iron sighted Rem 870. It will shoot slugs in the black at 90 yds. and still pattern buckshot well at 30 - 35 yds. I keep it handy at home for that reason.

If you were shooting a fully rifled slug gun I suppose that might give the shot cup a pretty good spin though. Bet that was ammusing to observe.

I had swapped a fully-rifled slug barrel onto my shotgun. My instructor joked that I had discovered a novel way to deal with a hostage situation: aim at the hostage and it would get everybody around him.

The irony is that Obama has been the best thing to happen to the gun industry since...since...uhhhh...

The AMC Pacer was to the auto industry...You know...Better gas mileage...etc etc...

I better shut up while I am still behind...

“Running a country isn’t as easy as you though is it dimwit?”

Notice after their little face to face Bush and Obama had a few weeks ago...

And that when the President is asked somethign about how the transition is going with the Obama team...There is this little smirk he gives...

I have a feeling he said to Obama, “Ok, numbnut...This is reality, and now you got it...”

And I hope everyone will give Ø is same thoughtfulness, compassion, and respect the dimwits gave President Bush. As we well know WAS NONE OF THE ABOVE!

Oh, and I hope Strisand doesn't get dizzy and fall on her nose while sucking in Ø's breath.
