I know I’m in the minority here, but I completely agree with the President.

US President George W. Bush said in an interview Monday that the Bible is "probably not" literally true...

Well at least we can finally dispense with the "George Bush is a Christian" myth.

What is true is of the Lord, since the Lord is Truth.

We believers were able to accept the earth-shaking idea that the earth does not literally have four corners, and that “the sun stood still” for a certain period of time or moved back so many degrees in the sky does not mean that it is literally moving around the earth.

We have quite a bit of evidence that the Lord’s creation included a change in species over time, and that the age of the earth is much more than 6 thousand years or so. There’s no truth in denying geological and fossil evidence of the age of the earth, anymore than there is in denying that the earth is round and revolves around the sun in a year.

(He created Adam and Eve fully grown and they may have even had belly buttons, although I doubt it. I certainly don’t believe they were created with wrinkles or age spots, much less the equivalent of well healed scars that made them look much older.)

Here's what I know. The bible states God created. The process is what is up in the air. Evolutionist's have their evidence and theories and creationist have their evidence, the bible, and the inherent witness in them.

Both take faith and belief. Bush is a methodist. Methodist are moderate, milqutoast, believers.

I believe that Science will ultimately answer every single measurable, verifiable question in the universe.

And, when Scientists solve the very last, final problem they will determine, scientifically, that the reason the universe exists at all is because God created it.

And God will smile.

Good for President Bush. Many Christians and others believe in theistic evolution. Evolution is just a process and God set it in motion.

Oh Thank you Mr. President, you just called our Lord a liar, very good. I think you need to read, study and think on this a bit more, you are helping to destroy the faith of those coming up or who are wobbly in the faith who look to good men (instead of God).

Unconsionable. Evolution is really the great and pernicios evil that has caused us to get where we are with the murder of the unborn, euthanasia, the callous treatment of the elderly, the infirm, the needy, the list is endless and you have bought into the lie, the culture of death is strengthened by your support, thank you.

Believers are being marginalized bit by bit but those of you that know of what I speak are NOT surprised, rather we will be eidified that the Word still holds true regardless of fallen man and his pathetic pronouncements.

“Before Adam, there was no death”, one of many sticking points but then again if the Bible be false, don’t worry about it, better to read some comic books or something, enjoy life while you are able. That “great, gettin’ up morn” will be a horror for many, man is an eternal being but in two categories: one group eternally damned, the other eternally glorified, which group will you be in? And how?

the Bible is "probably not" literally true

The great deception. Asking if one believes if the Bible is "literally" true is like asking, "So when did you stop beating your wife?"

The real question should be, "Do you believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God?"

Doesn't surprise me that George would say this. He really isn't very smart...

“I don’t think it is incompatable with scienfific proof of evolution”

And just where is the proof of evolution? Just where is the “missing link”? Show me. Dumb old me just can’t see how an ear “heard” while it was evolving, an eye “see” while it was evolving. I’ve never seen a horse birth a cow. Dumb old me just needs to see the proof. And that first duck that flew south, how did he tell the other ducks to follow him? Instinct you say? How long did it take instinct to evolve and how many ducks died developing it? Evolution must begin with the assumption that life began from rocks that came from the big bang or something. Dumb old me finds it more believable that life came from a Creator.

That is pretty much the view of Sarah Palin, too. Not many politicians are biblical literalists.

The creation account in Genesis has a different writing style than the rest of Genesis. It has been referred to as “exalted prose,” bordering on poetry. This might help us understand how to hear the creation account in light of history and science.

I believe every word of the Bible is true, and I don’t think creationism and science need conflict.

However, evolution is asking for a giant leap of faith. Matter tends to break down and become less complex, not the other way around. And where are all the animal fossils of the in-between stages of evolution? There aren’t any.

I was slow in becoming a Christian. I never jump into anything without first giving it the 3rd degree. There were things that could not be explained, things that seemed to contradict science etc.

Then one day I was sitting out on my front porch and for the first time I really saw the world around me and I could not deny that it was all due to God’s grand design.

If I were going to believe that, then that required that I believe the Bible is God’s Word. If it is His Word, then it is true, every word of it whether we understand it or not. You cannot have have half truths. Something to be true has to be 100% true all the time.

I have lost friends because of defending President Bush. Needless to say I am very disappointed in him right now.
