All Hail King Obama: President For Life ( 'Rats try to repeal 22nd Amendment )

As Inauguration Day approaches and Barack Obama prepares to assume his first term as president, some in Congress are hoping to make it possible for the Democrat to not only seek a second term in office, but a third and fourth as well.

The U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary is considering a bill that would repeal the Constitution's 22nd Amendment prohibiting a president from being elected to more than two terms in office.

Rep. Jose Serrano, D-N.Y., earlier this month introduced the bill, H. J. Res. 5, which, according to the bill's language, proposes "an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President."

In the past, some presidents have been critical of the 22nd Amendment, including Eisenhower, Clinton and Reagan.

In 1807 Thomas Jefferson, however, warned that presidents not bound by term limits could use their popularity and power to become kings.

"If some termination to the services of the chief magistrate be not fixed by the Constitution or supplied in practice," Jefferson wrote to the Legislature of Vermont, "his office, nominally for years, will in fact become for life; and history shows how easily that degenerates into an inheritance."

Roosie was a dictator. That’s why they passed the thing in the first place.

Perhaps, but if the media stays in his pockets vast swaths of the American public won’t know he’s screwed up. Lots of people still believe Clinton left office with actual surpluses in the US Treasury.

Yes. The Republicans passed the 22nd amendment because, after winning his fourth term, they (the Republicans) were sick and tired of FDR.

I remember when Ronald Reagan publicly proposed the repeal of the 22nd Amendment. He said, “Not for me, but for future presidents.”

The media may be in his pocket, but in 4 years Obama is going to be in our pockets and deep in them.

When Americans are broke they dont tend to vote for the guy that made them that way.

The most desirable parts of the oceans may become overcrowded soon if there are enough yachts available and people who can afford them. The high seas may be the only bastion of freedom left on the Earth. Of course you need to be prepared to fight off pirate attacks.

In order to achieve repeal of the 22nd Amendment, Serrano's proposal must be approved by a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress and ratified by three-quarters of the states' legislatures.

Before y'all panic, give some thought to how difficult this is to achieve.

Leaving a 2/3 vote in each house of Congress aside, there are 99 houses in the state legislatures. A No vote in 13 would block the amendment from being ratified.

How difficult is it to get a majority for No in 13 Houses?

This Obama idolatry is really obscene. Can you imagine the line of supplicants in D.C. waiting to kiss his ass on Resurrection Day? He is the biggest fraud in history, a cipher with a mellifluous voice who’s been cosseted his whole life. This Ethiope ectomorph doesn’t fool me.

Obviously that person does have a clear grasp of the significance of the upcoming inaugauration, albeit incapable of communicating it clearly. My main concern is the inclusion of pornography such as this (an upheaval signaled by Pluto’s recent entry into early Capricorn, opposite the nation’s Venus and Jupiter). Children should not be allowed to read such language.

Jose Serrano (Born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, on October 24, 1943)needs to be deported to a country that appreciates this sort of crap, like the one he oozed from.

But, but... I thought Pluto wasn’t relevant anymore since it is no longer considered a planet!

...consider that Pluto’s recent entry into Capricorn opposite the nation’s central formation in Cancer says our shared fortunes are going to be transformed, one way or another, whether we like it or not.

Just damn!

Since this astronomy bullshit always comes true, I guess that means that my money is gonna be taken and given to somebody else.

So, why didn't the "author" of this silliness, or the "astrologer" or whatever they claim to be, just come right out and say that socialism is in the stars and the BO is gonna be favored.

There are truly, truly idiots in this world and anybody that believes that the position of a star in relation to an asteroid as it relates to the position of a planet at a certain time and place in the universe, is a stupid, freakin' idiot.

But, you can bet one thing...BO is gonna do his best to take my money and give it to the welfare queens and bums and if I protest, I'll be labeled a racist.

That's in the stars, baby!

I understand this is a bill that keeps coming back all the time. It’s nothing new. It’s probably not going to get anywhere. It does make good news, though, and it contributes to hits on websites, which is why it gets out there... LOL..

But, for those really concerned, it does take 2/3 of the House and Senate to put forth a Constitutional Amendment. And then it takes 3/4 of the states to ratify an Amendment.

Now, if one counts the number of states that went for the Republican ticket, I think you’ll find that you can’t get 3/4 of the states to ratify it...

Please check your math!

57 time 2 equals 10. 2/3rds of 10 equals 1. So according to Obeanhead Math as Illinois Blogs so goes the nation!
