Once the libs start thinking about this, they may back away from it or alter it. If I understand the current proposal correctly, Big, evil, diesel or gasoline swilling SUV’s would pay the same as a Prius........can’t have that, now can we?

If they continue down this path, the price charged per mile will be based on vehicle weight....mark my words.

NO, because there are going to be higher TOLLS and more TOLLS added to roads that never had them, and I didn’t mention that due to keeping it simple for understanding.

I was upset about new TOLL roads, because of the stimulus supposedly being for Infrastructure, but we are going to get hit with TOLLS on roads that never had tolls.

Listen People, this is exactly what we were warning about before the election, and WHY everyone needed to vote....the dems are going for the throat on taxes and keeping the people IN ONE PLACE SO THEY CAN WATCH THEM, it means taking retirees off the road in RVs, and keeping people oppressed who live in RED VOTING areas, so they can’t do well financially, this is what Joe the Plumber was all about and WHY THEY HATED HIM, it’s taking off the blinders OF DECEPTION about how much they hate us.

my husband installs clandestine gps systems in cars. So if this happends (which i hope it doesn’t) he will be working his ass off. this is the sort of things that reminds me of ummm SOCIALISM. No the government is telling me in a around-about way where i should travel. that’s ridiculous. I travel via train to work, but my fiance drives all over the country for work. That would sink his company.

I Guarantee you that someone would figure out either how to spoof the signal, or leave the GPS at home while driving.

What they would need to do would be require EZ-Pass like devices for every one, and just charge you as you pass sensors on the road. Of course if that was the game they played, I would just steal Joe Biden’s and put it behind the Grill with a fake one in the window.

What if they don’t exempt trucks, just what will that do to cost of goods and transportation or shipping???
These people are out to ruin America, plain and simple, whether they realize what they are doing or not. And if they don’t realize it, then what the he$$ are they doing running this country...if they can do this much damage in one month, just what will they do in four years?

That’s the irony. All the young people who think of themselves as rebels and anti-establishment and are left/liberal are the establishments biggest fans and supporters. Somehow in their minds the government is not the establishment. The government is and of the establishment. They see themselves as pro-freedom while the government which is force, regulations, restriction and theft is the very antithesis of freedom. Up has become down and down up.

I think what’s really important to ask why is it so important to tax by the mile rather than by what they’ve been doing, by gasoline? Taxing by gas used is more in line with their supposed green concerns, isn’t it? Also, it is currently the type of nickel-and-dime tax that is less obvious to people and so they put up with it more readily. I mean, what’s the point to the cost of all that information-gathering anyway? To me, it’s just like the toll transponders: it accomplishes two things:

1) it makes it easier to exempt those they want to exempt—whether by income, age or some other favored-selection process, and

2) it gives them an excuse to put a gps device in every vehicle driven.

This latter point to me is probably the greater one, as it provides more government control and tracking. Though they claim they won’t track by individual locations now, isn’t that likely soon enough to be justified by various crime-fighting and safety claims?

(That it equally includes battery-driven cars is not legitimate either, as they could simply come up with another use tax for such as the volume for that builds.)

Yep, I’m sure this is all of the master plan. Imagine the reduction in greenhouse gases if they could force (for example) 50% of goods transported interstate to be done so by train or some other means. perhaps mules?

I believe your point #2 is a top priority in their mind, and a deceptive way to get GPS into your car for tracking your every move. This is a precursor to the UN water meters on every well to track consumption in rural areas, and charge people for using their own water....it’s coming.
It’s a tax and break the back of people in order to control them.

We have let the devil in the door, and getting them out will be very difficult. It may be that a good economy is not want they really want, so let’s be be aware of that.
If americans have more money, then they can move about more freely.

To tax a thing is to control a thing. They are wanting to establish control over mobility. This is a direct attack on freedom, and it should be met as such. It is the equivalent of border guards, visa checks, and stamped papers.

Because, how do they track your mileage? They monitor your purchases or your auto’s little black box.

If America doesn’t rise up and reject this en masse, then the next thing will be reeducation camps.

The GPS angle is absurd. The computer and telemetry systems (backoffice infrastructure) that would be needed to track 10 to 25 MILLION simultaneous GPS feeds - and then the “accounts” for 100 milion vehicles - would be insane.

The feds can’t even build an immigration tracking system or an FBI case management system, two examples of systems that have cost cost several hundred million dollars over the last 10 to 15 years and that *still* haven’t been completed.

So if they do float and pass such a bill with GPS tracking at its core, just be happy that it’ll never, ever be built by the feds. Not happening.

It’ll be odometers if anything.

And actually probably nothing. It reaches too deeply into the pocket of Americans, and is too intolerably Orwellian.

that is addressed in Bible, where it says in last days “they will call evil good, and good evil.” WE are there.

I guess their aim is to have us all riding bicycles. We can even wear cute little Chairman Mao caps as we do so.

My problem, however is... what if I’m riding my bicycle, and I drop my package full of energy-saving (and mercury laden) fluorescent light bulbs that I’m bring home for my cubicle? Of course, I’ll agree to pay the $20,000 environmental cleanup fee to the Government (tm), but I’m afraid they’ll catch me with my plastic water bottle.

Doesn’t seem to me as if Obama has any real concern about the economy at all. I think just as he likes seeing hardworking Americans’ money go to pay down the disproportionately-minority deadbeats’ mortgages, he may actually like seeing America’s accumulated wealth fall closer to that of Indonesia, Pakistan, etc.. He’s hit the ground running with the real agenda he wants to see implemented, and he’s moving ahead with it at an astonishing rate!

Aren’t the enviro’s the same ones who promoted “the plastic water bottle”, and condemned the tapwater twenty years ago?
