No, he believes in benevolent capitalism. He opposes the unrestrained materialism and step on your neighbor to get ahead attitude that has so infected the west.

Wrong, because losing the Catholic work in social services will cause tragic results for everyone.

You are correct. Catholics supported McCain but not by as much as they supported GWB.
In 2004, white traditional Catholics went 78% for the Republican, George Bush, and 22% for Democrat John Kerry, according to a survey by Prof. John Green of University of Akron. In 2008, they went 61%-39% for John McCain over Barack Obama. That represents an amazing 17 point improvement for the Democrat.

There's no word in the source article about the methodology used to calculate these stats.

I will say again, for the sake of clarity, that exit polls are not scientific.

Higher unionized states tend to be more liberal but union membership is only ~16% in MA and ~25% in NY. I don't think unions are driving the ship anymore.

  Numbers (in Thousands) percentage
New York 2,029 24.9
Hawaii 136 24.3
Alaska 68 23.5
Washington 578 19.8
Michigan 771 18.8
California 2,740 18.4
New Jersey 703 18.3
Connecticut 275 16.9
Nevada 199 16.7
Oregon 259 16.6
Illinois 939 16.6
Rhode Island 78 16.5
Minnesota 392 16.1
Massachusetts 458 15.7
Pennsylvania 847 15.4
Wisconsin 396 15

As a result of this lib focus, there are people who do not know that they must do something penitential in nature EVERY Friday. All they know is that it's ok to eat meat.

Pet peeve!!

I said--- If this is true, then perhaps it is poetic justice for the Catholics who have been voting Democrat all of these years. Or, perhaps I am wrong?

You said--- Wrong, because losing the Catholic work in social services will cause tragic results for everyone.

How will it result in tragic consequences for everyone?

I guess slander is the order of the day on this thread.

If I remember correctly, didn't you disagree vehemently with me when I indicated the markets were going to collapse along with housing prices? Yet, they did.

Are you dragging a dispute from one thread to another?

What might your motive be for that?

Of course it helps to prove it.

When Catholic areas are also union areas, the point is largely proven.

Patriotic1 replied: Wrong, because losing the Catholic work in social services will cause tragic results for everyone.

MeneMeneTekelUpharsin responded: How will it result in tragic consequences for everyone?

The destruction of Catholic schools, hospitals and charities will have tragic results for everyone because these institutions are America's leading providers of Christian education, Christian health care and Christian charity.

The services they provide are superior to those provided in secular institutions for all the same reasons that Christianity itself is superior to secularism.

If these Catholic institutions fall, their demise will be celebrated in the media as a triumph of secularism. The media will declare that they died because they were no longer needed. Henceforth, government -- along with public-private partnerships such as charter schools, devoid of religion -- will provide all our needs.

The fact that these Christian institutions were crushed by acts of government will go unreported. Most people will think they died a natural death. Their passing will be interpreted as one more symptom of Christianity's irrelevance in the modern world.

Having succeeded in this project, the enemies of Christendom will be emboldened to finish what they started. With the largest, most powerful Christian church in the world lying broken at their feet, they will turn their attention to the lesser denominations. And they will move swiftly.

Got an answer down below. However, thanks for trying anyway. I communicated with you where I found. That’s my prerogative. Thanks.

Management prohibits dragging disputes from one thread to another.

“We Catholics must pull together in this fight, for it is clear we will have few allies.”

That’s right, and nonCatholic prolifers should stand with us.

btw, let’s not forget to write letters to the editor about this topic, particularly to reach folks who don’t use an internet or listen to talk radio, like my dear elderly aunt, who ALWAYS reads letters to the editor.

“How do you fix the problem if you don’t figure out who put these Rats in power?

It’s real easy to complain after the fact. The hard part is fixing the problem within churches. There are too many “Christians” who vote for these people.”

I am a Catholic that voted against Obama and for Palin. Too many Christians, including Catholics and evangelicals voted for Obama. So should we “good guys” allow the left to win?

The leftists in NY and D.C. would love to get rid of all charities, not just Catholic charities, because then we would be dependent on the govt. for EVERYTHING, and then the govt. gets more control. Do you want that to happen?

It’s not the Catholic faith, it’s Catholics, and other Christians who voted unwisely that helped Obama become POTUS, and other Dems.

Forget about your anger at them, and FIGHT the good fight or we will be slaves to the govt.!
