Will the United States Abandon Israel?

Writers and speakers such as Lance Lambert, and a few others, have been reminding us for some time that eventually Israel will be separated from her long-time best friend and benefactor, the United States. When we heard such words, most of us agreed that it would happen sooner or later, but did not think it would be soon. Now, however, there are some indications that under the new US government it could happen more quickly than any of us thought.

There are numerous indications that President Obama wants to warm up to the Arabs in general, and the terrorist-sponsoring ones in particular. This is demonstrated, for example, in his willingness to talk to Hamas and Syria, and even Iran (though strictly speaking, the Iranians are not ethnically Arabs). All of this is “part and parcel of his apparent belief that the principal reason that the Arab and Islamic worlds are hostile toward the US is because the US supports Israel” (Carolyn Glick, JPost, February 23). And therein lies the danger. Clearly, the Obama government wants to improve relations with the Arab world. If the President sees Israel as the main roadblock to that goal, it is believed that he will either try to manipulate Israel to his own ends, or, if Israel proves intransigent, eventually abandon her.

John Kerry’s visit to Syria and Secretary of State Clinton’s planned participation in a conference in Egypt to raise money for Hamas-controlled Gaza are strong indications of the direction the new US government wants to go. But perhaps one of the clearest signals of that direction is the planned appointment of former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia Charles W. Freeman, Jr., as director of the National Intelligence Council. Freeman is known for his strong antipathy toward Israel. In numerous public statements he has placed most of the blame for Arab and Islamic hostility toward the US on Israel, and he has argued that the US’s problems with the Arabs will disappear the minute the US abandons Israel.

In one such statement in 2007, Freeman, who praises Hamas for being "democratically elected," said, "Those in the region and beyond it who detest Israeli behavior, which is to say almost everyone, now naturally extend their loathing to Americans. This has had the effect of universalizing anti-Americanism, legitimizing radical Islamism, and gaining Iran a foothold among Sunni as well as Shiite Arabs" (JPost, February 23).

By defending itself against its Arab enemies, Freeman argues that Israel has earned their wrathful retaliation! This, he contends, also places Americans in danger. "Such retaliation—whatever form it takes—will have the support or at least the sympathy of most people in the region and many outside it. This makes the long-term escalation of terrorism against the United States a certainty, not a matter of conjecture" (JPost Feb 23).

So Freeman, whom Obama may appoint to a high government post, wants to abandon Israel—not that he alone can actually bring this about. But he will be highly influential if he is appointed director of the National Intelligence Council.

Just keep remembering Mrs. Clinton hugging and kissing Mrs. Arafat.
Yassar was the most frequent visitor to the White House during the Clinton administration.

she didn’t seem to have any feeling for the old boy when he was on his deathbed either, she was busy somewhere in Paris.
Well, that’s ok, ‘it’s better she keep her money & spend it on herself rather than plush the purses of terrorists.

That's not a change over US policy for the past 35 years or so, since the 1973 war. The elder Bush screwed Israel over loan guarantees (promising to support it if Israel would sit back and just take it when Saddam was shooting rockets into Israeli territory during the Gulf War) and the dominant theme during the Reagan administration wasn't exactly pro-Israel all the time. Clinton coddled terrorists in the former Yugoslavia, passed up at least one chance to nab bin Laden, and basically just rolled over and rolled us over as well.

By contrast Nixon distinguished himself with the Operation Nickel Grass airlift -- "send everything that will fly." Nixon, Ford, and Carter presided over the rapproachement between Sadat and Begin after that war, with the Jew-hating incompetent anti-American POS Carter getting the credit and a Nobel Prize. The younger Bush administration insisted on a couple of fixed frameworks, but the fact is, compromise doesn't work with Muzzies; however, the liberation of Iraq has stuck a great big cork in the ass of Islamofascism and in the otherwise universal despotism that characterizes the non-Israeli Middle East, and has isolated the Saudis from Iran and from Iraq. Idiobama is going to screw that up, bigtime, even though, ultimately, US foreign policy goals remain on a long-term trend of keeping our enemies divided.

My reading of Scripture indicates that the USA WILL abandon Israel.

Partly because the USA is also being made an object lesson—that even the best form of

GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE

when it abandons God, turns evil.

But mostly, the USA must abandon Israel because GOD ALMIGHTY IS DETERMINED TO BE ISRAEL’S TOTAL AND ONLY SAVIOR IN EVERY RESPECT.

Just my opinion. God can do things any number of ways.

The REAL suffering of the USA will begin when we more overtly abandon Israel, imho.

"Will the United States Abandon Israel?"

With Obama and Hillary controlling U.S. foreign policy, it's a sure bet a sell out is in the works, also considering those two hate the fact Bibi & the Likud won the Israeli elections.

When Israel is vindictively sold out America will pay dearly as a nation.

I doubt if he does anything radical anytime soon on Israel with all the other stuff he is trying.

My take is that the North Koreans and the ragheads are just waiting another month to make it respectable before going whole hog.

HUSSEIN CANNOT rally the armed forces to die for him ANYWHERE

could NOT disagree more. ALL things are under God’s ultimate plan. Nothing that happens is unknown to God in advance and it ALL winds it’s way to His end.

That belies the concept of freewill.

I need to tell Michelle Obama that I have never been so sad about America, as I have been since Obama came into office. My ancestors have been in the USA since the 1600’s, and I feel that Obama is not mentally an American, even though I do not really know where he was born or his real name. So many of my family have fought and died for this country, when we are not even told his real name, and all of his background, He is too sneaky and untruthful to hold any office here.
