Loudmouths like Limbaugh not helping to unite nation (Saturday Barf Alert)
The (Sharon, Pa.) Herald ^ | March 7, 2009 | Lynn Saternow

Posted on 03/07/2009 1:22:55 PM PST by Ogie Oglethorpe

In case you missed the cartoon that appeared in Newsweek magazine and other places a month ago, it showed a person near the edge of a cliff talking to an elephant that represented the Republican Party.

The person asks, “If Rush Limbaugh told you to jump off this cliff would you do it?”

Next frame there’s the person standing alone, looking down and yelling over the cliff’s edge: “That was a rhetorical question!”

However, that cartoon really says a lot about the state of the Republican Party today. When you have a talk-show host who speaks for the conservatives in this country, you’re in a lot of trouble.

Here’s another rhetorical question: Has there ever been a bigger buffoon than Rush Limbaugh?

OK, if you’re a Limbaugh fan, you’re probably thinking “Lynn Saternow.” But besides the fact that I’m a lot better looking and much more humble, I would never have the audacity to challenge the President of the United States to a debate.

However, that’s what the loudmouth did recently. Maybe Limbaugh was back on drugs again when he said it, but why would a president want to even acknowledge someone who bills himself as a “harmless, lovable little fuzz ball.”

Lovable?

The best thing about Limbaugh is that he makes the conservatives of this country look very bad. After all, a short time ago he remarked about Obama: “I hope he fails.”

If Obama fails, this country fails. As much as I disliked George W. Bush, I never hoped he failed. Unfortunately, he did anyhow which is why we’re in a huge economic mess at this time.

Recently, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanual called Limbaugh the leader of the GOP. That was a great comment.

That really stirred Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who considers himself the leader. In fact, he said some unflattering things about Limbaugh, who then reacted by slamming Steele.

So now Limbaugh not only has Democrats bashing him, he even has some of the Republicans split. Man, politics are great.

We are facing the worst problems we’ve had since the Great Depression. If ever there was a time for bipartisanship to help bring this country back, it’s now. I’m talking about Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic minions as well. This is no time for Democrats to be bragging that they won the election.

It doesn’t matter who wins if the country loses.

It’s even time for people like Rush Limbaugh to decide whether they want to put the best interests of their country first or if they just want to improve ratings with conservatives.

The whole nation is on the edge of the cliff and needs a lifeline. If everyone pulls together, we can climb back up and return to being the greatest country on Earth.

Or we can keep listening to buffoons and keep throwing up roadblocks to keep that from happening.

The Herald’s Lynn Saternow writes this column each Saturday for the Opinion page.

Are you a texting teen perhaps?

God forbid! We would not want any young conservatives around here. We might actually win an election.

Well, note to the sports guy.....

Democrats nearly double Limbaugh’s audience

I was five star flaming 'Rat when I started listening to Limbaugh and surfing the net. Needless to say since I hang out here, I've had an epiphany. Undoubtedly that's what the left is afraid of. More folks taking their brains out of neutral :)

If all this blather was true, and Rush is a "loudmouth buffoon"...then WHY, why, is commiebama so afraid of him?

CommieBama had to ask the Republicans on the hill to NOT listen to Rush Limbaugh.

Now, RhamBO is trying to demonize Rush, and at the same time toss in all conservatives. It ain't gonna work, RhamBO.

A slogan that's been around since the 80's..."RUSH IS RIGHT", still applies. The clintons didn't get to him, and they were (I never thought I'd say this) were a hell of a lot smarter than commiebama.

Some advice to CommieBama and his slacker followers: A memorable quote by a Japanese Commander after they struck Pearl Harbor....(paraphrasing)"I think all we have done is wake a sleeping giant."

Rush was just tooling along doing his little daily radio show, when the obamites decided to start the threats and the attacking. In their naiveté, they allowed the audacity of a precocious 12-year-old to lead them to jump astraddle the old bull...but, the bull has jumped back at them.

Following the liberal bent of "unintended consequences", they wound up doubling the bull's audience, and allowing a "lowly radio announcer" to challenge the President of the United States (of Kenya) to a debate on his own policies.

How unheard of is that? Lynn Saternow seems to the singlely piqued by that action; and it might have been an affront to any other president but this one.

The actions of this president have not earned any respect, and by those very actions this socialist-leaning needs to be called out. Who's going to do it? The Republicans won't do it...they're running up and down the aisles of Congress with Chickenman McCain trying to figure out which side to land on.

Oops. I guess that makes Limbaugh THE defacto leader of the True Conservatives of America...the TCA.

So...there you go, Mr. Saternow...you have your answer. Now the next time you and Barney Frank are at a "meeting" you can discuss it at will, you brute you.

The only thing I regret is, now that CommieBama has doubled Rush's audience, hence his salary...we'll never get Rush to run for President...he can't afford the pay cut.

By the way, Mr. Saternow...please reply with your current circulation figures, and salary; we need to compare them to Rush to establish proponderence of influence on Americans.

Oh, and one last word, Mr. Saternow....GRECIAN FORMULA.

Bless her heart.

I read as far as the sentence containing, “...if you’re a Limbaugh fan, you’re probably thinking” after which she referenced her own name. Since I had not read the name of the author, I had never heard of this person. The “who the heck is that” reaction stopped me cold in my tracks and I lost interest in her Rush bash. lol.

Ms Saternow, approximately 240 million Americans did NOT vote for your boy. What makes you think he is uniting anyone?

This sounds like the type of guy who would tell others boarding trains for the camps to “Cooperate and we will all get there together.”

Loudmouths like Limbaugh not helping to unite nation
And yet you have to ask yourself...who threw the first punch?

I'm reminded of a football game where a referee doesn't see the first punch thrown and the penalty flag is thrown when the second player reacts.
Is the instigator just as responsible in not helping to unite nation and shouldn't they get a penalty flag too?

I guess the Ref needs glasses.

When you have the White House directing an attack on a talk-show host because they don’t like what he says, the whole country is in trouble.

Amen (not to mention the efforts to silence him by leftists on the Hill).

Whatever happened to dissent is the highest form of patriotism? I voted against Obama and I don't feel obligated to support his socialist agenda. Yes, I do hope he fails - big time!

“Make more jokes about our Dufus-in-Chief.”

Absolutely. In his CPAC speech, when he referred to the lack of jokes about democrats I think he said, “All of that’s about to change!” I sure hope so.

What’s so funny about this is that when Obama’s boys put the word out that Limbaugh is the head of the Republican party every Dem in the world flew off that cliff. Oh, the irony....
