Legal bills have mounted fighting complaints that she called partisan, false and frivolous, starting with "the politically motivated Troopergate probe," Palin said in a written response to questions.
"I must defend against these baseless ethics accusations out of my own pocket as the use of public monies to do so could itself violate state law," Palin wrote.
"On August 29, it seems the political landscape changed in Alaska. Now, it seems in order to do this job as Governor, with the political blood sport some are playing today, only the independently wealthy or those willing to spend their income on legal fees to defend their official actions in office ... can serve," Palin said
Out of the 10 complaints, Palin said six have been dismissed, one had "concluded," and three are pending.
Zane Henning, a North Slope worker, filed a complaint in November after the election, accusing Palin of partisan "post-election damage control" for talking to reporters about the campaign in her state office. He said he wanted to stop that sort of behavior, and it seems to have worked, but he couldn't talk about the complaint further while it was pending.
Palin said she didn't think it would be fair to "sacrifice public monies to defend against something that was so politically charged."
"Obviously we cannot afford to personally pay these bills -- and really no future governor should feel the sense of financial vulnerability at the hands of those with a political vendetta bent on personal destruction," Palin wrote. "Some have suggested a legal fund to pay these bills. We'll have to pursue that."

I find it difficult to believe that Sarah wouldn’t even accept government funds to help her fight Troopergate, even though the charges were brought against her by the legislature.
This is a woman that I could never cross.
And because the national GOP or its most prominent politicians are not helping or giving Sarah support right now against Obama’s full court press, it will be up to millions of ordinary citizens to come to Sarah’s aid and give moral support to her, defend her in public and over the internet, and donate to SarahPAC or a potential legal defense fund.

Yes, and she should be protected by the Republican Party, who put her forth as our candidate. Surely there are lawyers in the RNC. Surely she was not just used and tossed under the bus to deal with the consequences alone. ?
The press went into a heavy attack mode on Reagan during his term in office. Constant negative articles and political cartoons of him sleeping and saying the wrong thing into a mic. I remember one that Conrad of the L.A. Times drew that showed the Secret Service pulling weapons on a microphone that Reagan had just spoken into.
To hell with the RNC. The RNC is dead to me.
If a strong, viable third party does not coalesce within the next year or two then we can expect at least a generation (possibly more) of democrat/socialist/marxist rule in this country. By now it should be painfully obvious to anyone who has been paying attention that the RNC is a lost cause.

National Republicans are acting like mice against the Messiah. They give Obama’s high approval ratings as an excuse. Palin’s approval ratings in AK are sky high. Yet the AK Dems are not afraid to go after her. What is wrong with the RNC?
