When did they ban real dish detergent in Washington?

POKANE, Wash. – The quest for squeaky-clean dishes has turned some law-abiding people in Spokane into dishwater-detergent smugglers. They are bringing Cascade or Electrasol in from out of state because the eco-friendly varieties required under Washington state law don't work as well. Spokane County became the launch pad last July for the nation's strictest ban on dishwasher detergent made with phosphates, a measure aimed at reducing water pollution. The ban will be expanded statewide in July 2010, the same time similar laws take effect in several other states.YahooNews

Buy this stuff at dollar stores and sell it on ebay. Just be sure to set your shipping costs to left coast destinations.

Maybe they should start using paper plates. Or are they banned too?

Great, I just checked the two cartons of dishwasher detergent I bought at Costco and they are NO phosphate. Have to try and take them back.

Idiocy gone awry in WA. I shop in ID & get my detergent. So the ban isn’t making any sense. I get so sick of these idiots.

Just as long as they don’t get Roscoe P. Coltrane after me, I’ll be alright.

Them Duke boys can handle him though. Or maybe I’ll get ole Bandit to distract the Smokey while I get a tractor trailer full of dish detergent.

This green movement is getting so ridiculous that it is maddening. I’m all for a clean environment, what idiot wouldn’t be? Nevertheless, I’m getting REALLY irritated that every women’s or household type of magazine is full of green this or green that. It NEVER ends. I’m about ready to cancel my subscriptions to my magazines because I am so SICK of seeing article after article about going green. Good grief. Gimme a break. It’s like a broken record. It is worse than the 60’s and 70’s and their ecology stuff everywhere all of the time. Ann Coulter is right. It’s like a twisted religious movement. It’s being force-fed to us relentlessly. Hopefully, it is a fad that will burn out sooner than later.

I think people should be allowed to make the choice, but when I switched to a healthier dishwasher detergent I could then BREATHE if I were in the kitchen while it was running. There are a lot of chemicals in that stuff that are probably not the best thing to eat with or breathe when headed.

At least I know what to get family members for Christmas for the next, say, ten years.
