If he ever meets with Netanyahu which I’m willing to bet he never will, it will be interesting to watch and see if he’ll bow down to him as well or if he’ll keep his Muslim customs to himself.
I've lived there, twice for a total of 40 months as a Marine Corps officer. I've bowed plenty of times to Japanese dignitaries, their wives, JSF Officers and others in more formal, ceremonial settings. And certainly, this is what the military or DOS protocol would demand - nothing wrong or submissive about it.

How can this be the highlight of GOP ads when Bush was photographed holding hands and kissing the Saudis? This is a non-issue and we need to concentrate on things that will take back the House and Senate for 2010.
I'm sorry to say that most Anericans are too stuoid and parochial to understand the international implications of this bow before the Saudi king.

That’s just my thought. Can you imagine all of the leaders who confirmed their own countries’ intelligence that Obama is a vain but weak naif who’s halfway to giving our country away without even being asked. Talk about an easy mark!

This is DISGUSTING! Americans do not grovel before foreign royalty, period. That’s a fundamental tenet of a democratic society that does not recognize royals as supreme masters of the universe. We can be respectful, for sure (though one can doubt that an Islamo-fascist deserves any respect) but that does not involve bowing down to kiss the hand or ring, an act which signifies submission.

C’mon... Do you not understand the difference between greeting an EQUAL, and BOWING in submission? This is WAY different than what Bush did in greeting not only a foreign leader, but a close family friend (they’ve been doing business since George was a kid — the Prince and he probably played together!).
This is not a NON-Issue. This is exactly the type of issue that sticks in people’s minds, and resonates. It’s exactly the type of “sound-bite” attack that the GOP NEEDS to stop being afraid of... The Democrats took advantage of EVERY single little miss-step Bush made, none even CLOSE to this act by Obama. If the GOP wants to win in 2010 — they need to hit HARD... APPEARANCE IS EVERYTHING in today’s political world...
