BREAKING NEWS: The City of Burleson, Texas is trying to shut down a Tax Day Tea Party planned for April 15th!!
According to local organizers, unelected street supervisor Ray Gonzales, informed them that he was going to prevent the event from happening. Not only does Mr. Gonzales have no authority to do so, city government officials told local organizers that they do not need a permit to demonstrate in Burleson. I will post an update as soon as I get one from the local organizers, but I have been told that Mr. Gonzales is trying to get the Texas Department of Transportation to stop the tea party from happening.
Those who cherish liberty must stand with our friends in Burleson, Texas, and demand that the local government immediately drop all attempts to cancel the Burleson Tea Party.
Call and email them now!!!

I can tell you that the people will show up anyway, but we need to send a message to the city of Burleson, just like we did in Cape Coral, Florida.
Burleson Tea Party
April 15, 2009 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Location: Across the street from Wal-Mart 951 SW Wilshire Blvd. Burleson, Texas 76028 (burlesonteaparty@gmail.com)
Rush said today that this is happening around the country in various jurisdictions — bureaucrats trying to squelch our Constitutional right to assemble for our Tea Parties.
“Street Supervisor”? Hmmm..haven’t heard of them since the ol’ Tammany Hall days.
OK - In this case, I think the more they try to suppress, the better for the tea party. This isn’t something that can be brushed under the rug easily.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I’m not surprised. Burleson (Johnson County) is full of lib Democrats. That’s the tea party I was planning on attending. I will call and email now.
Have the tea parties anyway.
I wonder who got the permit for the original tea party?
The report leaves out the reason why Mr. Gonzales is trying to stop the rally.
Street Supervisor = Kommunity Organizer.
Then why would we email the mayor and city manager? Just press on...
Actions like these are the reason that folks need to get out the streets on a regular basis. Don’t let the tea party be the only thing that you do this year for our country. Stand up, and stand strong!
Pack a lunch Gonzo. You sure you want to go there?
Can you clarify? Your title said the City of Burleson was trying to shut down the tea party, but the text said that it was this Ray Gonzalez person, and City government officials told local organizers that they do not need a permit to demonstrate in Burleson. So just trying to confirm if there really is a problem with the city government, or if it is just this one person trying to shut it down?
Had planned on going to the Dallas Tea Party. I think I’ll go to Burleson instead.
If the people of Burleson don’t have the tea party just because some block commisar tells them not to, well they don’t deserve to have their name associated with the original Boston Tea Party.
Stinks that anyone would try to stop the Tea Parties
But it does prove that they are working....because various local govts want them to be shut down.
These yoyos, liberals, Commies, HKKKs, and other America-haters know that these Parties are the beginning of their downfall
You were around for the Tammany Hall days? :-)
Done - your friends in Arlington support you.
